Who successfully deploys BEAM, first inflatable room attached to International Space Station – NASA
Among Important National Current Affairs, NASA which is known as The National Aeronautics and Space Administration has successfully and finally deployed the first experimental inflatable room attached to the International Space Station (ISS).
This experimental inflatable room dubbed as BEAM (Bigelow Expandable Activity Module) which was deployed after it was successfully expanded and pressurized.
Do You Know –
• By Nevada Company Bigelow Aerospace, the inflatable room BEAM has been built.
• However, it will be attached to the ISS for a two-year test and is the first such habitat to hold humans in orbit.
Who won 2016 Indian Premier League title - Sunrisers Hyderabad
Among Important Sports Current Affairs, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the team is owned by Kalanithi Maran, owner of Sun TV Channel Network has won the ninth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
For the first time this team SRH won the IPL title. In the final match played at Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore (Karnataka), SRH defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by eight runs.
However, SRH had set the target of 209 runs to their opponent team. The RCB failed to reach the target score. It should be noted that RCB has lost 3 finals after they were defeated in finals of 2009 and 2011 editions.
Man of the Match of this game was Ben Cutting (SRH).
Which country to launch first hack proof Quantum Communication Satellite – China
Among Important International Current Affairs, in the last week of May 2016, Quantum communication satellite was in news as China planned to launch its first experimental satellite in July 2016 according to the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
After this, China will become the first country in the world to send encoded information from space that cannot be intercepted.
However, the project will bring revolutionary changes in communications. It also includes launch of a satellite and building of four ground stations for quantum communication and one space quantum teleportation experiment station.
Do You Know –
• By 2030, China is all set to plans to use its quantum satellite system to cover the planet.
• Although, it is also building its own quantum information sharing network for use in national defense and security on the ground network.
Vice Admiral AR Karve takes charge of - Southern Naval Command
Among Important National Current Affairs, Vice-Admiral A R Karve took charge as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command (SNC).
Before this, he was serving as the Chief of Personnel at IHQ MoD (Navy), at Delhi.
AR Karve will succeed Vice Admiral Girish Luthra who has been appointed as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command.
Know About Vice-Admiral A R Karve –
• Vice-Admiral A R Karve is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA), Pune and in July 1980, he was commissioned into the Indian Navy.
• With rich experience of 35 years, he is an anti-submarine warfare specialist. In his distinguished service he has held several important operational and staff appointments both at sea as well as ashore.
Trial run of High-Speed Spanish Talgo Train conducted in - India
On 29 May 2016, On the Bareilly-Moradabad route of Uttar Pradesh, nine-coach Spanish train Talgo’s trial run was conducted. It was conducted as part of the Railways’ strategy to increase the speed of trains.
By a joint team of the Railway Design Standards Organisation (RDSO) and Spanish train manufacturer Talgo, the trail run was conducted.
Do You Know -
This nine-coach Talgo train hauled by a 4500 HP diesel engine was tested on the 90-km line as part of the first trial run. The 90-km distance was just covered in 1 hour 10 minutes.
