Which site of Mumbai was declared as World Heritage Site by UNESCO - Victorian and Art Deco Ensembles

On 30th June 2018, Victorian and Art Deco Ensembles of Mumbai was declared as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. After Ahmedabad now Mumbai has become the second city to be inscribed on the World Heritage List.

Apart from Victorian and Art Deco Ensembles of Mumbai there were three other cultural sites that make it to World Heritage List, these are :

• Sassanid Archaeological Landscape ( Fars region of Iran )
• Hidden Christian Sites ( Nagasaki Region of Japan and Sansa )
• Buddhist Mountain Monasteries ( Korea )

• This architectural ensemble comprises of two architectural styles, first is 19th century collection of Victorian structures and second is 20th century Art Deco buildings along the sea.
• This represents the most remarkable collection of Victorian and Art Deco buildings in the world.
• Victorian buildings of 19th Century form part of larger Fort area situated to the east of the Oval Maidan.

Name of the first transgender lawyer of India - Sathyasri Sharmila

On 30th June 2018, Sathyasri Sharmila became first transgender lawyer of India. She has been enrolled with Bar Council Of Tamil Nadu And Puducherry. She want to devote her career to welfare and development of transgender community.

Sathyasri Sharmila is from Ramanathapuram district of Tamilnadu. She completed her law degree from Salem Central Law College in 2007.

Name of two cricketers who were inducted into ICC Hall of Fame - Rahul Dravid and Ricky Ponting

On 1st July 2018, ICC inducted Rahul Dravid ( India ) and Ricky Ponting ( Australia ) into ICC Cricket Hall of Fame. If we talk about women player then Claire Taylor ( England ) was also inducted into ICC Cricket Hall of Fame. They all were inducted in a ceremony in Dublin, Ireland.

Rahul Dravid has became fifth player to be named in the Hall of Fame from India. Other four Indian cricketers are Anil Kumble, Bishan Singh Bedi, Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar.

Name of committee constituted to upgrade norms for computation of economic data - Ravindra H Dholakia Committee

On 30th June 2018, Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI) constituted 13 member committee to upgrade the norms for computation of economic data at states and districts level.

This committee will be headed by retired professor of IIM Ahmedabad Mr Ravindra H Dholakia. Important to mention here that base year for the calculation of GDP and IIP numbers will be changed from 2011-12 to 2017-18.
