Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai sworn in as new President of Afghanistan
On 29th September 2014, Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai sworned in as new president of Afghanistan at a ceremony held at presidential palace in Kabul.
Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai suceeded Hamid Karzai.
Mr. O Panneerselvam took oath as new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu
On 29th September 2014, AIADMK Treasurer O Panneerselvam took oath as new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu as we are aware that former Chief Minister had to resign after being jailed.
O Panneerselvam became 28th Chief Minister of state. He has also served as Finance Minister of Tamil Nadu in the Jayalalithaa cabinet from 2011 to 2014.
On 29 September, World Heart Day observed across the globe
On 29th September 2014, World Heart Day was observed across the globe with an aim to inform people about the danger of heart disease and stroke.
Theme of World Heart Day 2014 was "Heart Choices NOT Hard Choices".
World Heart Day was founded in 2000. This was founded to increase awareness about heart disease and stroke, as it claims 17.3 million lives annually.

Japan's volcano, Mount Ontake erupted
On 27th September 2014, Japan's Volcano Mount Ontake erupted which claims lives of more than 30 people and injuring many others.
This volcano has been placed under a Level 3 alert by Japanese Meteorological Agency which means everyone should stay away but this mountain is popular with weekend hikers, particularly in September and October as the autumn leaves are at their best in this season and this is a popular site to view autumn foliage.
