Who has been appointed as new Director General of DRDO - S Christopher
Among the Important Appointments and Important National Current Affairs, On 28th May 2015, Eminent scientist Dr. S Christopher was appointed as the Director General of DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation) after his appointment was cleared by Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC).
He was Distinguished Scientist and Programme Director (airborne early warning and control system) and Director, Centre for Air-Borne Systems in the DRDO. After 30th January 2015 this charge was with Defence Secretary as additional charge as earlier Avinash Chander's contract was curtailed by the union government.
Dr. S Christopher will be serving at this post for the period of two years.
Apart from this, Dr. GS Reddy as Scientific Advisor to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar. He has also been appointed for a two-year term. He is Distinguished Scientist and Director, Research Centre Imarat, and Programme Director of Medium Range Surface to Air Missile (MRSAM) in the DRDO.
Mary Ellen Mark passed away, he was - Eminent American Photographer
On 25th May 2015, Eminent American Photographer Mary Ellen Mark passed away in New York, She was 75 years old. She has earned a lot of fame in this profession and was regarded among best documentary photographers of her generation. Her works were exhibited at galleries and museums worldwide and had been widely published in LIFE, the New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker, Rolling Stone, and Vanity Fair.
She was also a author of 18 books and at last stage of her life she was working on her 19th book.
She was awarded with many honours including Lifetime Achievement in Photography Award from the George Eastman House and the Outstanding Contribution Photography Award from the World Photography Organisation.
When yogathon will be hosted in 100 US cities - On First International Yoga Day
As you must be aware already that 21st June has been declared as World Yoga day by UN following a proposal of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Now with an aim to spread awareness about yoga, Yogathon will be celebrated in more than 100 US cities on 21 June 2015, the first International Yoga Day.

On what charges seven FIFA Officials were arrested by Switzerland authorities - Bribery charges
On 27th May 2015, Seven FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) officials were arrested on corruption charges by Switzerland authorities in Zurich, Switzerland. FIFA vice president Jeffrey Webb is also among arrested officials.
Swiss authorities made these arrests in cooperation with the US officials for allegedly accepting 150 million US dollars in bribes from USA based sports marketing agencies over a 24-year period starting from 1991.
Who won Europa League title - Sevilla FC
Among the Sports Current Affairs, On 27th May 2015, Sevilla Football Club (FC) won Europa League title by defeating Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk football club by 3-2. Final was held at National Stadium Warsaw, Poland.
With this win, Sevilla bagged second consecutive Europa Cup and also in total it was fourth time this team won Europa League title.
Who has been crowned as 27th Maharaja of Mysuru - Yaduveer
On 28th May 2015, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja of Wodeyar dynasty was crowned as the 27th Maharaja of erstwhile kingdom of Mysuru. He is 22 years old. He was coronated at a ceremony held in the hallowed precincts of Durbar Hall at the Amba Vilas Palace in Mysuru.
26th Maharaja was Srikantadatta Wodeyar, whose coronation took place 41 years ago at that time he was 21 years old. He died in Bengaluru on 10th December 2013 due to cardiac arrest.
Name of the Indian-origin teacher who has been named for Oxford University award - Gurnimrat Nimmy Sidhu
Among the International Current Affairs, On 27th May 2015, Indian-origin teacher Gurnimrat Nimmy Sidhu was named for University of Oxford Inspirational Teacher Award. She was named for this award for helping one of her students get into the world-famous varsity. She had received her trophy in Oxford alongside 11 others, also nominated by their students for their role in getting them admission into one of the world's most prestigious universities.
She is among 12 teachers to win the University of Oxford Inspirational Teacher Award.
Who has been appointed as new CFO of Indian Bank - VA Prasanth
Among the Important Banking Current Affairs, On 28th May 2015, VA Prasanth was appointed as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Indian Bank with immediate effect. At the time of appointment he was serving as General Manager of the Indian Bank, he succeeded K Srinivasa Raghavan.
