Who has been granted with title of Honorary General of Nepalese Army? - General Bipin Rawat
The Chief of the Army Staff General Bipin Rawat was titled with the Honorary General of the Nepalese Army during his official visit to Nepal and Bangladesh from 28th March 2017 to 2nd April 2017 on 29th March 2017. This tradition began in 1969.
IAF launched - Aviation Turbine Fuel Digital Issue and Payment
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa PVSM AVSM YSM VM ADC formally launched the Aviation Turbine Fuel Digital Issue and Payment (ATF DIP) system on 28th March 2017. On this occasion, the Chief of Air Staff complimented IOCL for its commitment and unstinted support in ensuring robust supply chain management of Aviation Fuel, especially at high altitude locations and during natural calamities.
Key features of Aviation Turbine Fuel Digital Issue and Payment (ATF DIP)
- It is a web based e-billing module,conceptualized by the Indian Air Force (IAF) in line with the Union Government’s flagship programme - Digital India.
- It helps speedy accounting and the clearance of over 2 lakh aviation fuel bills of Oil Pubilc Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
- This new service will be implemented from 01st April 2017.
Dr. B. C. Roy National Awards presented by - President Pranab Mukherjee
Pranab Mukherjee, the President of India, presented Dr. B. C. Roy National Awards for the years 2014, 2015 and 2016 at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi on 28th March 2017.
President also presented the Hari Om Ashram Alembic Research Awards for the years 2008, 2009, 2010, 2014, 2015 and 2016.
United Nations appointed David Beasley to - Run World Food Programme
The Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN),Antonio Guterres,appointed former South Carolina Governor David Beasley to run the World Food Programme (WFP).
The WFP executive board noted Beasley’s appointment in a letter to Guterres on 28th March 2017.

- Born on 26th February 1957, David Muldrow Beasley is an American politician.
- From 1995 to 1999, as a member of the Republican Party, he served one term as the 113th Governor of South Carolina.
- He started his political career as a member of the Democratic Party, but switched to the Republican Party in September 1991.
- The World Food Programme (WHP)is the food-assistance branch of the UN.
- This organization is the world's largest humanitarian organization addressing hunger and promoting food security.
- It provides food assistance to an average of 80 million people in 75 countries every year.
- Its headquarter is in Rome.
Lionel Messi suspended for four matches by - FIFA
The FIFA Disciplinary Committee suspended Argentina football player Lionel Messi for four matches on 28TH March 2017 for the fault in relation to an incident during the match between Argentina and Chile on 23rd March 2017. In the qualifying competition for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, Lionel Messi used insulting words to an assistant referee. This incident led to the suspension of for four official matches and sanctioned with a fine of CHF 10,000.
