NITI Aayog’s WEP signs five SoIs with financial institutions and social organisations on - 27th June 2018
The Women Entrepreneurs Platform of the NITI Aayog, on June 27th, 2018 inked 5 distinct Statements of Intent with financial institutions and social organizations. The Women Entrepreneurs Platform is an initiative under the NITI Aayog which was inaugurated on March 8th, 2018 on the occasion of the International Women’s Day.
Highlights of the SoIs- The Statements of Intent inked with financial institutions such as the Shri Mahila Sewa Sahakari Bank, Indiabulls Housing Finance and SREI Infrastructure Finance will be involved under the Women Entrepreneurs Platform-Finance vertical.
- These Statements of Intent will deliver financial help to female entrepreneurs.
- Statements of Intent’s association with the Sreemanta Sankar Mission, Guwahati goals to strengthen recognized and wishful Female entrepreneurs in North-East India through Women Entrepreneurs Platform North-East Chapter and will Assist to feminise Women Entrepreneurs Platform in North-East.
- The Statements of Intent with the Self Employed Women’s Association, comprises promises to mobilise femae entrepreneurs in rural areas and encourage them in Livelihood Entrepreneurship.
- The Women Entrepreneurs Platform website, with commercial initiatives and ropes programmes, would direct about plans, initiatives and products according to the needs.
Women Entrepreneurs Platform - The main idea behind the Platform was 1st proposed by CEO, NITI Aayog, Amitabh Kant, who broadcasted the formation of a Women Entrepreneurship Platform in NITI Aayog at the decision of the 8th Global Entrepreneurship Summit organised in Hyderabad in 2017.
- The WEP was formed to upsurge the number of women entrepreneurs who will create and empower a dynamic New India.
- It also objects to highlight knowledge breaks, promote Partner Connects and upsurge the outreach of partner programmes.
President launches Solar Charkha Mission on - 27th June 2018
President Ram Nath Kovind initiated “Solar Charkha Mission” on June 27 th , 2018, under which government will allocate funding of Rupees 550 crores to number of craftsperson for creating employment in countryside areas.
It was released during the eve of Udyam Sangam on the event of World MSME Day which is celebrated on 27th June.
Key Facts- Under this mission, Ministry of MSME will shelter 50 clusters across the nation including in the North-East and each cluster will hire 400 to 2,000 artisans. Its eventual objective is to create employment in rural areas and contribute to the green economy. It also goals at connecting 5 crore females across the nation to the initiative.
- The initiative is believed to generate 1 lakh jobs during the initial 2 years.
Establishment Strategic Petroleum Reserves at Chandikhol and Padur approved by - Cabinet
The Union Cabinet has sanctioned formation of extra 6.5 MMT Strategic Petroleum Reserves accommodations at Chandikhol, Odisha and Padur, Karnataka. It also sanctioned building of steadfast Single Point Mooring for the 2 Strategic Petroleum Reserves. This conclusion is in the continuation with the Government’s declaration of forming of 2 extra Strategic Petroleum Reserves during 2017-18 budget.
Key Facts- The Strategic Petroleum Reserves facilities at Chandikhol and Padur will be subversive rock-caverns with total capacities of four million metric tonnes and 2.5 million metric tonnes separately.
- These amenities will deliver an added supply of approximately 12 days of petroleum reserves and is believed to expand India’s energy security.
- They will be constructed under Public Private Partnership to decrease budgetary support of Government of India.
- The terms and conditions of these Public Private Partnership models will be determined by Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas in discussion with Ministry of Finance.
