    K. Rosaiah sworn in as Governor of Karnataka

     On 29th June 2014, Tamil Nadu Governor K. Rosaiah was sworn in as the Governor of Karnataka at a function held at the Raj Bhavan. Chief Justice of the High Court of Karnataka D.H. Waghela administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr. Rosaiah, who will hold the additional charge of the State till a new Governor is appointed.

    Later, according to protocol, Mr. Waghela, Mr. Siddaramaiah and Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee escorted Mr. Rosaiah up to the entrance of the Raj Bhavan. Officers and staff of the Raj Bhavan greeted and welcomed the new Governor.

    Sanjeev Kumar Gupta appointed as New Executive Director of Axis Bank

    The board of directors of Axis Bank has appointed Sanjeev Kumar Gupta as Executive Director with effect from 1st September 2014, which is among important banking current affairs.

    Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Gupta is the President and CFO of the third-largest private bank since 2009.

    Gupta has served as a Director at Axis Securities & Sales Ltd and has worked with the State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur.

    He will take over from Somnath Sengupta, Executive Director (Corporate Centre), who has opted for early retirement.

    MoU signed between Kwality Limited and Central Bank of India

    Dairy firm Kwality Ltd has signed an agreement with Central Bank of India for extending financial assistance to dairy farmers. Kwality Ltd has six plants in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan with processing capacity of 30 lakh litres a day. Its consolidated net sales rose by 27 per cent at Rs 5,002 crore last fiscal, while profit was up 37 per cent at Rs 144.93 crore.

    "Kwality has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Central Bank of India for financing of dairy animals to the Milk Producer Farmers (MPF) and to provide financial assistance for expansion/establishment of their dairy farms," the company said in a statement today.

    As per the MoU, Kwality will identify the farmers who supply milk to them and are in requirement of financial assistance. The company will then recommend their names to the bank, which would extend its credit facility to the Milk Producer Farmers (MPF) after checking the farmers credentials.

    Saina Nehwal wins Australian Open Super Series title
