Who has been elected as Chairperson of Governing Council of IFAD - Dinesh Sharma

Among the important National Current Affairs, On 17th and 18th February 2016, Additional Finance Secretary and India’s Governor to the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD), Dinesh Sharma was unanimously elected as the Chairperson of the Governing Council of IFAD.

About International Fund for Agriculture Development

• In the year 1977, it was set up as the 13th Specialised Agency of the United Nations.
• It responsibility is to remove poverty and hunger from the world.
• India is a a key contributor among the member countries and the founder member of IFAD.
• The Governing Council and the Executive Board are the two governing bodies.

Among the important Sports Current Affairs, On 28th February 2016, the Dubai ATP Tennis title was won by Stanislas Wawrinka after defeating Marcos Baghdatis.

This was the 13th title of his career, second title of the year and second of the season. 

Which state has imposed ban on sale of Army Uniforms in the state - Punjab

On 28th February 2016, a ban on the sale of army uniforms across the state was imposed by Punjab government.

If a person want to buy the uniform he would have to submit a self-attested copy of his identity card and phone number. 

Apart from this, Besides, use of red and blue coloured stickers used by police on vehicles is also banned in the state.

Who has approved Constitution of Banks of Board Bureau - Union Government

On 28th February 2016, the proposal of the Department of Financial Services for the constitution of the Banks Board Bureau (BBB) was approved by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

The Bureau chaired by former CAG Vinod Rai is constituted with an objective to improve the Governance of Public Sector Banks (PSBs).

The expert members are Rupa Kudwa (former MD & CEO, CRISIL), HN Sinor (former Joint MD, ICICI Bank) and Anil K Khandelwal (former CMD of Bank of Baroda). 

Which day is observed on 28th February - National Science Day 

Among the important National Current Affairs, On 28th February 2016, National Science Day was observed across India with the theme "Scientific Issues for Development of the Nation".

This day is observed every year to mark the discovery of the Raman Effect (phenomenon of scattering of photons) by Indian physicist Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman in the year 1928.

In the year 1930, Raman was awarded with the first Nobel Prize for India in the field of Science for his discovery.

Name the famous Tamil comedy actor who has passed away - Kumarimuthu

On 28th February 2016, Famous Tamil Comedy actor Kumarimuthu passed away at the age of 77.

Who has been elected as President of Kosovo - Hashim Thaci

Among the important International Current Affairs, On 26th February 2016, the Members of Parliament elected Foreign Minister Hashim Thaci as president of Kosovo. 

He has replaced Atifete Jahjaga.

• He was a guerrilla leader during a conflict that led to Kosovo, a mainly ethnic Albanian province declaring independence from Serbia.
• He had also served as prime minister fell out with many opposition groups after helping to negotiate with Serbia a deal that gave more autonomy to minority Serbs of Kosovo.

• In the year 2008, Kosovo unilaterally declared independence from Serbia.
• Serbia along with many other countries around the world haven't recognized this self-declared independence.
• In April 2013, Kosovo and Serbia reached a landmark agreement to normalise their relations.
