Successful test launch of scramjet engine conducted by – ISRO
Among Important National Current Affairs, for the very first time The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has successfully conducted the Scramjet (or Supersonic Combusting ramjet) engine test.
Here, the test was conducted from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikotta in Andhra Pradesh and has successfully met all the intended parameters.
Do You Know –
• The scramjet engine was the test launched on board of RH 560 sounding rocket.
• However, RH 560 sounding rocket is two stage Advanced Technology Vehicle (ATV).
• Also the ATV along with the scramjet engines weighed 3,277 kg at lift-off.
International Day Against Nuclear Tests observed globally on - 29th August 2016
Among Important International Current Affairs, on 29th August 2016 International Day Against Nuclear Tests has been observed across the world with an aim to raise people’s awareness on the need to prevent nuclear catastrophes to avert devastating effects on humankind, the environment and the planet.
However, this day was first celebrated in year 2010 and since then, the day has been observed by coordinating various activities throughout the world such as symposia, conferences, exhibits, competitions, publications and instruction in academic institutions, media broadcasts and others.
Who has been appointed as President of India Bullion and Jewellers Association - Mukesh Mehta
Among Important National Current Affairs, on 28th August 2016 Mukesh Mehta was appointed as the President of India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA).
However, he is also a Director on the Board of IBJA.
Mukesh Mehta is all set to take the responsibilities of Mohit Kamboj, who has resigned in the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of IBJA on 24th August, 2016.
NASA’s Juno probe completes first - Jupiter Flyby
Among Important National Current Affairs, NASA’s solar-powered Juno spacecraft has successfully executed its first flyby of Jupiter, our solar system’s most massive planet.
However, during its first flyby, Juno has passed just 4,200 kilometres above the planet’s clouds. It was the closest contact ever achieved by a man-made probe with Jupiter.
Do You Know –
• During this flyby, it was for the first time Juno had its entire suite of science instruments activated.
• Also During this closest approach, Juno passed about 4,200 kilometres above Jupiter’s clouds and travelled at speed of 208,000 kilometres per hour with respect to the planet.
Mumbai-Nagpur Super Communication Expressway project unveiled by - Maharashtra Government
Among Important National Current Affairs, on 27th August 2016 Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has finally unveiled the 46000-crore rupee, ambitious Mumbai-Nagpur Super Communication Expressway project in Mumbai.
However, the project to be implemented by Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation will create state-of-the art road connectivity within a period of three years and give a fillip to investment.
