Bill for 75% jobs to locals in factories passed by - Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly approved Andhra Pradesh Employment of Local Candidates in Industries and Factories Bill, 2019. The bill mandates held in reserve employment of at least 75 percent local state candidates in all private industrial units and factories, irrespective of whether companies get financial/any other help from government. With this bill Andhra Pradesh became first state to reserve jobs for locals in respective units.
Key Features of Bill- The 75 percent reservation to local is issued in private jobs across all categories including
factories, industrial units, joint ventures and projects taken up under PPP mode. - If locals with essential skills are not available, then corporations must train them in connotation
with state government and hire them.
Time Period - Current industries, factories, joint ventures and Public-Private Partnership projects will have to fulfil with these provisions within a period of 3 years from date of beginning of Act. Corporations will have to provide 3 monthly reports about local appointments to a nodal agency.
- Only those units that are listed in first schedule of Factories Act including mostly hazardous industries like petroleum, pharmaceuticals, coal, fertilisers and cement, among others will be excused from the new Act, after government endorsement.
MS Dhoni begins training with Territorial Army Battalion, to be on patrol and guard duties in - Kashmir
MS Dhoni will be on patrol and guard duties in Kashmir. The previous Indian captain has taken a 2- month sabbatical from cricket to fulfil his promise as Lieutenant Colonel in the Parachute Regiment of the Territorial Army. Dhoni had earlier himself absent for the upcoming India tour of West Indies.
MS Dhoni has started his 2-month training with Indian Army's Parachute Regiment. According to
reports, MS Dhoni will undergo training with the soldiers and live like any other soldier. MS Dhoni
was rendered the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel by the Indian Army in 2011, after he
headed the Indian cricket team to a historic victory in the 2011 Cricket World Cup, 28 years after
the 1983 triumph.

Lieutenant Colonel (Honorary) MS Dhoni will join Indian Army’s Territorial Army on July 31st. MS
Dhoni will work the 106 Territorial Army Battalion (Para) for fifteen days from July 31st till August
15th, 2019. The unit is a part of Victor Force in Kashmir. The Territorial Army Battalion has its HQ

Every year on July 26th, India celebrates Kargil Vijay Diwas and yesterday it was 20th Anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. The day is observed against the victory of the Indian Armed Forces in Operation Vijay against the insightful Pakistani soldiers.
Every year this day is observed to respect and to show thankfulness to the brave Indian soldiers of Indian Army who sacrificed their lives to keep India safe and secure. Military people Nel celebrate Kargil Vijay Diwas at Drass-Kargil sector and at Amar Jawan Jyoti, India Gate, New Delhi.
More bout Operation Vijay- In early months of year 1999, Pakistani soldiers began infiltrating inside Indian borders towards Line of Control.
- On May 1999 about 5000 Pakistani soldiers apprehended peak of a mountain located inside Indian area. They placed themselves in key locations to give them a strategic advantage.
Action by Indian Army - Since Pakistani soldiers and terrorists were located at high altitudes it was not easy to fight but
Indian fighter jets Mig 21, Mig-27 and Mig-29 demonstrated their brilliance and compelled Pakistani soldiers to withdraw from Line of Control. - Pakistan asked United States to intervene but then United States President Bill Clinton declined the request. Indian Army fought with full strength and accomplished to get back all posts by July 26th.
- Infiltration by Pakistani soldiers was code named Operation Badr. It had an objective of cutting down India’s link with Kargil, Dras and Ladhak area and to remove Indian army from Siachen Glacier.
- But Indian Army fought bravely and gained this war. But victory came at a high price as official death toll on the Indian side was 527, while on the Pakistani side it was between 357 and 453.
20th Anniversary of Operation Vijay
PM Narendra Modi gave his tributes on Twitter with images of his Kargil visit during the war in
1999. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid his tributes at National War Memorial on 20th Kargil
Vijay Diwas.
