Among the important International Current Affairs, On 25th March 2016, International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade 2016 was observed in the world with the theme "Remember Slavery: Celebrating the Heritage and Culture of the African Diaspora and its Roots".
The theme takes our minds to the rich African culture and traditions that have influenced the life in countries that were involved in the slave trade.
The day honours the memory of millions of Africans who were forcefully removed from their families and homelands over hundreds of years.
The day also focuses a spotlight on racism and prejudice which are holding the present world.

Name the Radar system established by ISRO - GIRI Radar System
Among the important National Current Affairs, On 21st March 2016, the Gadanki Ionospheric Radar Interferometer (GIRI) was established by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) near Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh.
It was set up at an autonomous research institute of the Department of Space named National Atmospheric Research Laboratory (NARL).
Features of GIRI System
- It will be engaged in meteor and space weather research. It is a 30 MHz radar system.
- It consists of 20 transmitter units, a rectangular antenna array of 160 two-element Yagi-antenna, a host computer, a radar controller and 6 digital receivers including data processing systems.
- It will supply information on the angular location of plasma irregularities during the onset phase and its relationship to background ionospheric state parameters and sunset terminator.
About National Atmospheric Research Laboratory
- It is among the most specialized atmospheric research in India to conduct weather and climate modeling, indigenous technology development for atmospheric probing and basic atmospheric research.
- It regularly operates Boundary Layer Lidar, Rayleigh / Mie Lidar, Sodium Lidar, Sodar and Dual frequency GPS receiver, state-of-the-art MST radar, Lower Atmospheric Wind Profiler.
- It is available for national and international scientists to conduct atmospheric research.
Whose wreck has been discovered after 95 Years - US Navy Tug USS Conestoga
Among the important International Current Affairs, On 23rd March 2016, US Navy tug USS Conestoga wreck was discovered near one of the Farallones Islands about 30 miles (50 km) west of San Francisco. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the Navy of United States announced this.
Since 1921, the World War I era tug was missing.
It was seen on sonar at a depth of 185 feet in the waters of the Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary in California.
