    The Union Ministry of Power is planning to make 24 degrees Celsius as compulsory default temperature and labelling of ACs within few months. This has been outlined after 6 months drive was initiated to promote energy efficiency in the area of air-conditioning.
    Key Points

    • The drive was initiated on voluntary grounds to spread awareness and inspire users to accept the rules.
    • It will outcome in substantial energy savings and also decrease Greenhouse Gas Emission. Every single degrees rise in temperature of ACs consequences in protection of 6 percent of electricity utilised.

     Day of the Seafarer 2018 observed by IMO on - 25th June 2018

    Day of the Seafarer 2016 was celebrated worldwide on 25th June, 2018 by the International Maritime
    Organisation to acknowledge the seafarers for their role to the economy and civil society of the world.
    The day also highlights risks and personal costs tolerated by them while being in their occupations.
    The Day of the Seafarer was recognized in a resolution accepted by the Diplomatic Conference 2010 in Manila to assume the reviewed STCW Convention.
    It explained the significance to celebrate the unique role made by the seafarers towards international seaborne trade, the world economy and the civil society as a whole. The 1st edition of the Day of the Seafarers was celebrated by International Maritime Organisation in 2011.
    International Maritime Organisation

    • In 1948, an international conference in Geneva accepted a convention formally starting International Maritime Organisation as ‘Inter-Governmental Maritime Consultative Organization’, however, its name was altered in 1982 to International Maritime Organisation.
    • International Maritime Organisation is the UNs special intervention with accountability for the security and safty of shipping and inhibition of maritime pollution by boats.

    Cabinet nod to set up private industrial park as DTA to be built by TATA Steels in - Ganjam District, Odisha

    The cabinet of Odisha has sanctioned a proposal to use land in its Ganjam district as a DTA to initiate
    a Private Industrial Park by Tata Steel company.

    More about the Private Industrial Park

    • The Private Industrial Park will be under the Odisha Industrial Infrastructural Development Corporation.
    • Out of the planned 2970 acres land at Gopalpur in Ganjam district, 1235 acres to be used by TATA
      Steel Special Economic Zone Ltd and residual 1735 acres would be used by the TATA Steel Special Economic Zone Ltd for form a Private Industrial Park as DTA.

    Other Projects approved by the Odisha cabinet
    The government land calculating 881.75 acres of 172 villages of Nayagarh, Boudh, Sonepur and Balangir districts will be estranged for building up Daspalla-Bolangir segment of Khurda-Bolangir New Broad Gauge Railway line. Numerous rural twittered water supply plans were also sanctioned.

    PM inaugurated 11.2km long Delhi Metro’s Mundka-Bahadurgarh section on - 24th June 2018

    PMModi initiated theDelhi Metro’s Mundka-Bahadurgarh section, on June24 th , 2018.
    Key points

    • In a video conference PM Modi highlighted the reputation of Metros in urban development.
    • The11.2 kilometres long completely elevated Mundka-Bahadurgarh passage is part of the Delhi
      Metro’s Green Line.
    • The Mundka-Bahadurgarh metro line, would be an continuation and elongation of the present Green Line fromInderlok to Mundka.
    • After the initiation of this rail line, the whole Inderlok-Bahadurgarh area would become 26.33
      kilometres long.
    • With this, The Delhi Metro network will now increase to288 kilometres with 208 stations.
    • This is the 3rd line of connection to the neighbouring state of Haryana. Metro services are even now operational in Gurgaon and Faridabad.
    • The stations willbe Mundka Industrial Area, Ghevra, Tikri Kalan and Tikri Border, while in Haryana, it will be Modern Industrial Estate, Bus Stand and City Park.
