    Padma Awards Announced, which two personalities politely declined it - Ramdev and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

    On 25th January 2015, President of India Pranab Mukherjee approved the conferment of Padma Awards to 104 person this year, awardees comprises of 9 Padma Vibhushan, 20 Padma Bhushan and 75 Padma Shri. A day before Padma awards were to be officially announced Yoga guru Ramdev and Spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar politely declined to receive the honours.

    RBI lifted ban on carrying 1000 & 500 bank notes to which two countries - Nepal and Bhutan

    Among Important Banking Current Affairs, On 24th January 2015, Reserve Bank of India lifted ban on carrying Indian bank notes of Rs 1000 and 500 denominations to and from Nepal and Bhutan. Earlier it was restricted to export and import these bank notes for Nepal and Bhutan.

    But it is important to mention here that one person can carry Rs 25000 of such notes only.

    It has been done to help the workers from both nations as well as Indian tourists travelling to Nepal and Bhutan. 

    US President Barack Obama on three day visit to India

    On 25th January 2015, United States President Barack Obama arrived in New Delhi to begin his three day visit to India. PM Narendra Modi himself received him at Palam airport. US President Barack Obama was also accompanied with First Lady Michelle Obama and a delegation.

    US President will be the chief guest at Republic Day parade as earlier Indian PM invited him to be chief guest at this important occasion.

    United States President Barack Obama is the first US President to be in India twice while in office. 

    He is also the first US president present at Republic Day parade as a chief guest.
