MD and CEO of IndusInd Bank Romesh Sobti named as BS Banker of the Year
MD and CEO of IndusInd Bank Mr. Romesh Sobti was named as Business Standard Banker of the Year for 2013-14. Five member jury headed by Subir Gokarn, former deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India selected his name for this honour.
Other jury members were Mahindra & Mahindra Director Bharat Doshi, Ican Investment Advisors Chairman Anil Singhvi, SBI's former managing director Diwakar Gupta and Ambit Group CEO Saurabh Mukherjea.
Indian Golfer Arjun Atwal won inaugural edition of Dubai Open Golf
Among the important sports current affairs, On 21st December 2014, Veteran Indian golfer Arjun Atwal won inaugural season of Dubai Open Gold by one stroke after South Korean teenager Wang Jeung-hun bogeyed the final hole.
Arjun Atwal won cheque of $90,000 with a trophy.
Noted Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth ranked No 4 in BWF ranking
On 25th December, Noted Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth was able to break into top five in BWF ranking as he was ranked number 4. This is his highest career ranking till now.
Apart from him Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal retained her number four position in the latest ranking of BWF.
RIL inked shipping deal with Japan's Mitsui
On 25th December 2014, Energy giant Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) announced that it has signed agreement with Japan's Mitsui OSK Lines Ltd. This is for shipping liquefied ethane from North America to India.
Mitsui will supervise the construction of six Very Large Ethane Carriers (VLECs), ordered by Reliance. Mitsui will also operate and manage the vessels after they are built and delivered.
