The successful completion of first test flight is announced by – Facebook Inc

Among Important National Current Affairs, on 22nd July 2016 Facebook Inc announced the successful completion of test flight of a solar-powered drone named Aquila.

The social media giant has a full faith that Aquila will definitely help to extend Internet connectivity to every corner of the planet.

However, the company ultimately hopes to have a fleet of Aquilas, which can fly for at least three months at a time at 60000 feet and also communicate with each other to deliver internet access.

Which player becomes first Indian captain to score double century outside India - Virat Kohli

Among Important Sports Current Affairs, on 22nd July 2016 Virat Kohli, captain of an Indian Cricket Team 2016 became the first Indian captain to score a double century outside India.

However, Kohli scored 200 runs against West Indies on day two of the first Test at the Sir Vivian Richards stadium in North Sound.

After this double century, Kohli now entered the list of visiting captains with highest scores in West Indies. The list includes name of Sir Leonard Hutton, Steve Waugh, Andrew Strauss and Ricky Ponting.

Kerala Tourism wins Gold at - PATA Awards

Among Important National Current Affairs, on 21st July 2016, Kerala Tourism has been awarded with two Gold Gongs at the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Awards.

Here, Kerala Tourism won this award in recognition of its trend setting marketing initiatives, which have given a boost to the state's profile as a must-visit destination.

However, the awards were in the categories of Travel Advertisement Broadcast Media and E-Newsletter, which were finally grabbed by the successful Visit Kerala television commercial campaign and the popular Kerala Tourism E-Newsletter.

Ganesh Singh appointed Head of Joint Parliamentary Committee for - Land Acquisition Bill

On 22nd July 2016 Ganesh Singh, who is a BJP Lok Sabha member has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Joint Committee of Parliament examining the Land Acquisition Bill.

S S Ahluwalia has been replaced by Ganesh Singh. On 5th July 2016, Ahluwalia became the Minister of the State for Parliamentary Affairs in reshuffle of the council of ministers.

After this appointment, now Singh will have to move a resolution in the Lok Sabha seeking the seventh extension of the term of the panel.

Narendra Modi and Sheikh Hasina inaugurate Petrapole Integrated Check Post

Among Important International Current Affairs, on 21st July 2016, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina together inaugurated the Petrapole Integrated Check Post (ICP).

However, PM Modi and PM Hasina inaugurated the Petrapole Integrated check post through video-conferencing only.

This checkpost will help in promoting bilateral trade and will also boost economic growth of both countries.

Please Note: Petrapole-Benapole is an important land border, which is crossing for India-Bangladesh trade as more than 50% of the India-Bangladesh trade passes through Petrapole.
