Which two players were inducted into the International Cricket Council Hall of Fame - Anil Kumble and Betty Wilson
On 22nd February 2015, Former India captain Anil Kumble and Australian legend Betty Wilson became the 77th and 78th inductees into the Hall of Fame at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Australia. Anil Kumble is the fourth Indian to be included in the group, other three includes Bishan Bedi, Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar. Betty Wilson is the second Australian woman in the Hall of Fame after Belinda Clark.
Who has won Indian Open title of Golf - Anirban Lahiri
On 22nd February 2015, Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri won the Indian Open title at the Delhi Golf Club by defeating SSP Chowrasia on the first playoff hole. For the fourth time Chowrasia finished as runner-up in the tournament. Lahiri who started the final day seven strokes behind Chowrasia and five shots off defending champion Bangladesh’s Siddikur Rahman found himself tied at seven-under with Chowrasia who bogeyed the 16th hole. Pars followed for both players and the tie at seven-under 277 led to a playoff.
Who has taken the oath as Cheif Minister of Bihar - Nitish Kumar
On 22nd February 2015, Janatal Dal (United) leader NItish Kumar sworned in as the 34th Chief Minister of Bihar. He succeeded Jitan Ram Manjhi, who resigned had on 20 February 2015 before the trust vote wherein he was supposed to prove majority in the 243-member Bihar Legislative Assembly. Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi administered Nitish Kumar’s oath of the office and secrecy at the Raj Bhawan in Patna. 22 other ministers including three women were also administered the oath of office. Among these 22 ministers, 20 ministers were in Jitan Ram Manjhi government.
Name the Portal launched by Union Government to redress consular grievances - MADAD, an online grievances monitoring system
On 20th February 2015, Union Government launched an online grievances monitoring system called MADAD to redress consular grievances. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi launched the portal. MADAD will enable Indian citizens living abroad to file consular grievances online on the services offered by the Indian Missions, Posts, Consulates and Embassy abroad. The logo of MADAD depicts two persons with a letter M in-between them and MADAD is written underneath.
About MADAD
- It is a joint effort of the Ministry of Overseas Indians Affairs (MOIA) and Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and it is not a general helpline.
- Thorough history of the grievances or complaints registered will be maintained online.
- It will also improve tracking, speed up forwarding and handling of complaints and redressal and escalate unresolved cases.
- It allows effective monitoring of the grievance handling process thereafter, until it is redressed and direct registration of the grievances by the members of the public.
- The portal employs a colour-coded system of red-amber-green pattern to track the complaints and grievances. Pending cases will be indicated in red colour while the green colour indicates cases are cleared.
Who has won the J. Calvin Giddings Award 2015 of American Chemical Society - Purnendu Dasgupta
On 20th February 2015, An Indian-American Purnendu Dasgupta was awarded with the 2015 J. Calvin Giddings Award for Excellence in Education. American Chemical Society (ACS) Division of Analytical Chemistry presented the award to Purnendu Dasgupta. He was awarded for his contribution in the field of analytical chemistry. He is a Jenkins Garrett professor of chemistry at the University of Texas at Arlington. Dasgupta is an author of more than 400 scientific papers and book chapters and holds 25 US patents. His work has earned more than 18 million US dollars in research grants.

On 22nd February 2015, 87th Academy Award, popularly called Oscar Awards, was held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) presented The Oscar Awards for the year 2015 in 24 categories. The awards were produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron and directed by Hamish Hamilton. For the first time Actor Neil Patrick Harris hosted the ceremony.
