Which state becomes first state to draft law for internal security – Maharashtra
Among Important National Current Affairs, Maharashtra became the first state in the country to draft its own internal security legislation The Maharashtra Protection of Internal Security Act (MPISA), 2016.
This bill has been kept public responses for suggestions and objections.
However, later it will be presented to the legislature for the approval.
Gujarat to host - 2016 Kabaddi World Cup
Among Important Sports Current Affairs, on 22nd August 2016 The International Kabaddi Federation (IKF) declared that the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup will be hosted in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
From 7th October 2016, this tournament will be started and will conclude on 22nd October 2016.
However, Gujarat will play host to 12 Kabaddi teams from around the world including India, USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, Iran, Poland, Pakistan, and others.
Please Note: The Kabaddi World Cup matches will be played in The Arena by TransStadia, upcoming state-of-the-art stadium in Ahmedabad.
Which two countries signed an agreement on vocational training - India, Germany
Among Important International Current Affairs, on 22nd August 2016 India and Germany have signed an agreement to foster conditions that will help to create and improve workplace-based vocational training in India's industrial clusters.
Here, the agreement was signed between the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and German International Cooperation (GIZ).
Jagdish Mukhi sworn in as Lieutenant Governor of - Andaman and Nicobar Islands
Among Important National Current Affairs, on 22nd August 2016 Senior BJP leader Jagdish Mukhi was sworn in as the 12th Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Here, he was administered the oath of office and oath of secrecy by Justice Girish Chandra Gupta, acting chief justice of Calcutta High Court.
However, Mukhi will take the responsibilities of Lt General A K Singh (Retd) who was appointed in July 2013. Earlier, he had been a minister and Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly in the past.
India wins four-match Test Series against - West Indies
Among Important Sports Current Affairs, on 22nd August 2016 India won the four-match test series against West India by 2-0.
However, the fifth day's play in the fourth test in Port of Spain was called off due to heavy rainfall.
Team West Indies was 62-2 in its first innings with only 22 over bowled in the entire match.
Who sworn in as Governor of Punjab - V P Singh Badnore
Among Important National Current Affairs, on 22nd August 2016 V P Singh Badnore took oath as the new Governor of Punjab. Here, he was also sworn in as the Administrator of Chandigarh Administration.
During the ceremony, Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice S J Vazifdar administered the oath of office and secrecy to Badnore at Punjab Raj Bhawan in Chandigarh.
Also Badnore replaced Kaptan Singh Solanki, who is the Governor of Haryana. Solanki had been holding additional charge of Punjab Governor and Administrator of Chandigarh Administration since January 2015.
