Establishment of Fund of Funds for Startups under SIDBI approved by - Union Cabinet
Among Important National Current Affairs, setting up of Fund of Funds for Startups (FFS) under Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) for extending support to Startups has been approved by The Union Cabinet.
However, this 10,000 rupees corpus fund will also be established in line with the Start up India Action Plan, an initiative of Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP) which was declared by Union Government in January 2016.
Know About SIDBI –
• SIDBI, which means Small Industries Development Bank of India is an independent financial institution with aim to aid the growth and development of micro, small and medium-scale enterprises.
• Beginning as a refinancing agency to banks and state level financial institutions for their credit to small industries, it has also expanded its activities, including direct credit to the SME through 100 branches in all major industrial clusters in India.
EU reached agreement on new border force to tackle - Migrant Crisis
Among Important International Current Affairs, on 22 June 2016 The European Union reached agreement to set up a new Border and Coastguard Force to curb the influx of migrants.
EU is suffering from big crisis, and to tackle from this the force have the right to intervene in front-line countries like Greece and Italy.
For the 28 EU member states, the agreed subject that was endorsed by the negotiators and the European Parliament was a proposal from the European Commission, the bloc's executive. It wanted to set up the force by the summer.
United Nations Public Service Day is observed on - 23 June 2016
23 June is being observed as the United Nations Public Service Day by the United Nations (UN) every year.
The main aim of this day is to mark the invaluable contributions of public servants and administrators to build a better world for all.
For the first time, this day is observed after the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, were adopted by all member states of United Nations. On this occasion, the UN will hold a Public Service Awards ceremony to reward the creative achievements and contributions of public service institutions worldwide.
In Karachi which famed Pakistani Qawwal, shot dead - Amjad Sabri
On 22 June 2016, Renowned Qawwal Amjad Sabri, who has sung More Haji Piya, was shot dead by unidentified motorcycle-borne gunmen in Karachi, Pakistan on 22 June 2016.
At the age of 45, Sabri was killed while travelling with an associate in a car in Karachi's Liquatabad area.
Sabri who was popularly known as Rock Star of Qawwali due to his modern style of rendition, he was one of the best Sufi musicians and qawwals from Pakistan. Sufism is a mystical sect of Islam that is viewed as heretical by hard-line groups such as the Taliban.
Who appoints Anupam Pahuja as India Country Manager and MD - PayPal
On 22 June 2016, World’s leading payments platform PayPal declared the appointment of Anupam Pahuja as the Managing Director (MD) and Country Manager for its India operations.
Pahuja have to handle all the responsible for all aspects of PayPal's business in India. He will also be responsible for further strengthening of the company's operations in the country.
Befoe joining PayPal, Pahuja worked as the India MD for SumTotal Systems.
