Who has been appointed as World Bank Country Director for India - Junaid Ahmad
Among Important National Current Affairs, on 21st September 2016 Junaid Ahmad was appointed as the World Bank Country Director for India.
However, Junaid Ahmad will succeed Onno Ruhl who completed his four-year term recently.
Please Note: Ahmad joined the World Bank in 1991 as a young professional.
Contract with DST, Germany for designing special vessels for NW-1 signed by – IWAI
Among Important International Current Affairs, The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) has finally signed a contract with German company DST to design vessels, which is suited to navigate the 1620 km stretch of National Waterway (NW-1).
However, under this contract, DST has been initially tasked to develop low draft vessels for transportation of cars that can carry up-to 150-200 vehicles.

• The contract signed by IWAI, has been awarded to DST in par with an aim of providing safe, environment friendly and economical mode of transportation through the waterway.
• Also the specially designed vessels will navigate on low drafts. They will be having high carrying capacity and most importantly, will be environment friendly.
Incredible India Tourism Investors Summit-2016 begins in - New Delhi
Among Important National Current Affairs, the Incredible India Tourism Investors Summit (IITIS) 2016 has finally begun in New Delhi after it was inaugurated by the Union Finance Minster Arun Jaitley.
However, this three day summit has been organized by the Union Ministry of Tourism in association with Tourism Finance Corporation of India (TFCI) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
Adi Godrej conferred - Clinton Global Citizen Award
Among Important International Current Affairs, on 19th September 2016 Adi Godrej, who is the Chairman of Mumbai-based Godrej Group, was conferred the 10th Annual Clinton Global Citizen Award for leadership in business and philanthropy.
However, the award recognises Godrej's leadership in transforming the intersection of business and philanthropy and also making the Godrej Group a global example of what can be achieved through inclusive, sustainable business strategies.
Here, the award was presented by Hikmet Ersek, CEO and President of Western Union, in the presence of former US President Bill Clinton.
Union Cabinet approves - Admiralty (Jurisdiction and Settlement of Maritime Claims) Bill, 2016
Among Important National Current Affairs, The Union Cabinet has finally given green signal i.e. its approval to enact Admiralty (Jurisdiction and Settlement of Maritime Claims) Bill 2016.
However, the proposal to enact to this bill was forwarded by Union Ministry of Shipping to repeal five archaic admiralty statutes.
Also, Admiralty jurisdiction is related to the powers of the High Courts in respect of claims associated with transport by sea and navigable waterways.
