Name of Guided Missile Destroyer inducted into Indian Navy - INS Chennai
Among Important Current Affairs, On 21st November 2016, Guided Missile Destroyer INS Chennai was inducted into Indian Navy by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai. INS Chennai has been designed and constructed indigenously by Mazagon Dock Limited, Mumbai.
It is of Project 15 A class Destroyers, as far as its dimentions are concerned its length is 163m, breadth is 17.4m with a displacement of 7500 tonnes. For propelling it has four powerful Gas Turbines, in a Combined Gas and Gas (COGAG) configuration and it can achieve speed of 30 knots.
It also contains refined weapons and sensors such as Surface to Surface Missile and Surface to Air Missiles. It is capable to fight under Nuclear, Biological and Chemical (NBC) warfare conditions.
Who has been awarded IMO Award for Exceptional Bravery at Sea - Radhika Menon
On 21st November 2016, Captain Radhika Menon was awarded with 2016 International Maritime Organization (IMO) Award. She was awarded for her Exceptional Bravery at Sea at IMO Headquarters in London, United Kingdom for rescuing seven fishermen from a sinking fishing boat in the Bay of Bengal in June 2015.
Important to mention here that she is first woman captain in the Indian Merchant Navy and also first female to receive the IMO Award for Exceptional Bravery at Sea.
Who won Shakti Bhatt First Book Prize 2016 - Akshaya Mukul
Among Important Awards, On 21st November 2016, Senior journalist Akshaya Mukul won the Shakti Bhatt First Book Prize 2016. He was honoured by this award for his book "Gita Press and the Making of Hindu India".

Who was awarded with first World Sanskrit Award - Thai Princess Maha Chakri
On 21st November 2016, Princess of Thailand Maha Chakri Sirindhorn was conferred with first World Sanskrit Award for her contribution for the promotion of Sanskrit language for the year 2015.
American linguist and Indologist Professor George Cardona was also awarded for the year 2016. Vice President Hamid Ansari presented these awards to winners at a function held in New Delhi.
