Chandrayaan-2 Mission to be launched on - 22nd July 2019
For the launch of Chandrayaan-2 Mission, India's much awaited Moon mission countdown has already begun. Chandrayaan-2 is India’s second Moon mission that is launching today at 2.43 pm. Chandrayaan-2 is using the heavy-lift launch vehicle GSLV-Mark-III for the expedition to Moon .
GSLV-Mark-III is carrying the important probe that will be ignited at 2:43 pm from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota based in Andra Pradesh. ISRO added that 20 hour mandatory countdown for Chandrayaan-2 was started on 21st July evening at 6.43 pm and it is going satisfactory so far. ISRO has also done a pre-launch rehearsal on this and confirmed that everything is functioning normal. ISRO chairman Dr Sivan said, that all preparatory arrangements have been put in place for the mission.
Important Highlights
- Initially, Chandrayaan-2 was all set to launch on 15th July but a technical snag was found less than an hour before its scheduled lift-off which led towards calling off the mission.
- The flight duration of Chandrayaan-2 from the earth to the moon has been reduced from 54 days to 48 days by making certain changes in the flight path.
- According to the ISRO Chandrayaan-2’s lander will be reached on the moon by 7th September 7 as per the plan.
- Scientists would be performing fifteen crucial manoeuvres to navigate the probe from an earth-bound elliptical orbit to the moon surface. Total cost of the mission is worked out to be 978 crore rupees.
Sheila Dixit, three-time Delhi CM passed away on - 20th July 2019
Sheila Dixit, senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Delhi passed away on 20th July in New Delhi. She was 81 at the time of death. As reports stated, the three-time Delhi CM suddenly fell sick in the morning and was taken to Escorts hospital. She suffered a cardiac arrest and was put on ventilator and at 3:55 pm, she breathed her last.
According to the statement released by the Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, Sheila Dikshit was brought to the hospital on Saturday morning in a very critical condition with cardiac arrest. A multi-disciplinary team of doctors led by Dr Ashok Seth, Chairman of Fortis Escorts, carried out advanced resuscitative measures. Though her condition was stabilised temporarily, she had another cardiac arrest and despite all efforts to revive her, she passed away at 3:55pm. Her cremation took place at Delhi's Nigam Bodh ghat at 2 pm on Sunday.
