India lauded for Medicines with the Red Line campaign on – Antibiotics
Among Important National Current Affairs, The Global Review on Antimicrobial Resistance in its final report has admired India’s Medicines with the Red Line campaign on antibiotics.
In 2014 only by the UK Prime Minister David Cameron the global review was commissioned and was chaired by economist Jim O’Neil.

• Antibiotics which are also called antibacterials, are a type of antimicrobial drug that are used in the treatment and prevention of bacterial infection.
• This drug may either kill or inhibit the growth of bacteria. However, a limited number of antibiotics also possess antiprotozoal activity.
Which panel of Union Government to relook Defence Spend - 11 Member Panel
Among Important National Current Affairs, 11 member panel of Union Government has constituted to recommend measures to enhance the combat capabilities of the armed forces and re-balance the overall defence expenditure.
By Lt Gen D B Shekatkar (retd). the 11-member committee will be headed. It also includes several other top military officers as well as civilian experts.
The main aim of the committee is to ensure combat capabilities Indian armed forces and enhance their potential with a better teeth-to-tail combat ratio, within budgetary constraints.
Committee also aims at ensuring leaner and cost-effective fighting forces of India. Background The committee was constituted owing to the present revenue component (day-to-day costs/salaries) in the defence budget.
On May 21 which day is celebrated - Anti-Terrorism Day
On May 21 every year Anti-Terrorism Day is being observed as throughout India to spread awareness among the people about the danger of terrorism and violence and its effect on the people, society and the country as a whole.
The main agenda behind the observance of Anti-Terrorism Day is to wean away the people from terrorism and violence. This day is celebrated with the motive to promote unity, peace and harmony across the nation.
This day also marks the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi who was assassinated at an election rally near Chennai by a suicide bomber from the LTTE on 21 May 1991.
