Deputy Governor of RBI KC Chakrabarty resigns
Dr KC Chakrabarty, the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India resigned on 20 March 2014. His resignation came three months ahead of the completion of his term due to personal reasons. Dr KC Chakrabarty was appointed as RBI Deputy Governor for a three year term on 15th June, 2009 and was subsequently given a two year extension. His extended term was to come to end on June 15, 2014 but he resigned earlier.
Important to note : RBI as its official Directors have a Governor and four Deputy Governors.
After the resignation of Dr KC Chakrabarty, now two posts of deputy governor of RBI are vacant. Earlier, on 20th Jan 2014 Mr. Anand Sinha retired from the position of Deputy Governor of RBI.
Ibibogroup acquires bus tracking platform yourbus.in
Online travel company and an e-Commerce firm ibiboGroup on 20th March 2014 announced to acquire Bangalore based startup YourBus.in. It will give it more strength in the field of bus travelling space. YourBus.in is an online GPS-based bus tracking and analytics platform. YourBus is functional in 200 buses and is already integrated with redBus mobile and web applications. YourBus was founded in 2011 by Rajesh Mallipeddi and Satya Padmanabham. Both are BITS-Pilani graduates. YourBus application shows the real time location of buses smartphones.

Five Indian Languages To Be Official Subjects In South African Schools
Five Indian languages were again started in South African Schools, which were discontinued in 1994.
These languages are :
- Hindi,
- Tamil,
- Gujrati,
- Marathi,
- Urdu.
These languages were offered as official subjects in schools of South Africa until 1994. These languages will be offered to students as optional third language.
In this regard the circular was issued to schools in South Africa on 20th March 2014.
RBI issued notice to banks about Windows XP
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issued notice to banks on 19th March 2014 to take measures as Microsoft has announced discontinuation of Windows XP from 8th April 2014. Microsoft will not be giving any support for XP after 8th April 2014. So after that there will be no updates and patches for Window XP. As many banks or ATMS are using window xp they are issued a notice by RBI to take appropriate measures.
Important to note : Windows XP came in market in 2001 and it is product of Microsoft.
Indian Journalist Shubhranshu Choudhary bagged 'Digital activism award'
Indian Journalist Shubhranshu Choudhary bagged prestigious award 'Digital Activism Award' 2014.
The Award is conferred every year by a London based organization called Index Freedom of Expression. He got this award for his CGNET SWARA project. Journalist Shubhranshu Choudhary's used internet and mobile phone networks to get the voices of tribals from deep inside of forests of Chhattisgarh across the world in Gondi Language.
The jury chooses from among the bravest of journalists, artists, campaigners and digital innovators, the world over and among the four categories only the Digital Activism Award is judged through public voting online.
Important to note : American whistleblower Edward Snowden was also a contender for this award.
