SMS News Services launched by Union I&B Ministry in 5 Indian languages
On 19th September 2014, Union Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Minister Prakash Javadekar launched All India Radio's (AIR) free news SMS service in five Indian languages. These five languages are : Hindi, Marathi, Sanskrit, Dogri and Nepali.
This service is focused to send news to the subscribers on their mobile phones in their selected language.
AIR has already launched a news SMS service in English on 9th September 2013.
17th Asian Games kicked off in Incheon, South Korea, Sardar Singh being the flag bearer from India
On 19th September 2014, 17th Asian Games were kicked off in Incheon, South Korea. This year theme of Asian Games is "Meet Asia's Future".
There will be total 439 events, in which about 13000 athletes will be participating from 45 nations. These games will be on in full momentum for total of 16 days.
If we talk about Indian contingent then total of 516 athletes will be participating in 28 sports.
Indian Men's Hockey team captian Sardar Singh was the flag bearer of Indian side during the opening ceremony.

Mandolin maestro Uppalapu Srinivas passed away at a early age of 45
On 19th September 2014, Noted Mandolin player Uppalapu Srinivas passed away in Chennai. He was just 45 years old. He was a phenomenal artist and was a master of playing Mandolin who started performing with it at a very early age of 9.
He was recipient of many prestigious awards like Padma Shri in 1998 and Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards in 2010.
For first generation entrepreneurs Assam Chief Minister launched Angel Fund
On 19th September 2014, CM of Assam Tarun Gagoi launched a fund named as Angel Fund, which is focused on first generation entrepreneurs. This fund will help first generation entrepreneurs to set up micro and small enterprises in the state of Assam.
For this facility an MoU was signed by the state government and Regional rural bank, Assam Gramin Vikash Bank. Govt will be contributing Rs. 10 Crore in this fund.
First generation entrepreneurs can get a loan upto 5 lakh rupees at 5 percent interest per annum from this fund and apart from this, moratorium period will be of maximum 10 months during which no interest will be charged.
Films Meet - India-China agreed for Joint Working group
On 18th September 2014, India and China agreed to create a Joint Working Group to promote facilitation in the film sector. This group will meet on the sidelines of IFFI 2014 at Goa.
This proposed meeting will involve the stakeholders from both the countries to increase cooperation in the film sector.
September 30 - US-India Partnership Day
On 19th September 2014, US Senate unanimously passed a bipartisan resolution as per which 30th September designated as US-India Partnership Day. This was done to recognize contribution of two countries to one another relationship.
This resolution came before the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to US, it says that India and the US have a special and permanent bond.
On 29-30th September 2014 President Barack Obama will be at White House with US President Barack Obama.
In referendum voting Scotland rejects Independence
On 19th September 2014, People of Scotland mostly voted against the referendum for independence from United Kingdom.
If we talk about the percentage of votes then 55.3 percent people voted against this referendum while 44.7 percent of people voted in its favour. So with a margin of 10.6 percent votes this referendum was rejected.
