Global Talent Competitiveness Index 2015-2016 was launched by - INSEAD
Amonng Important Reports and Surveys, On 19th January 2016, INSEAD launched the Global Talent Competitiveness Index (GTCI) 2015-16 in Davos, Switzerland on the sidelines of the 46th annual summit of the World Economic Forum (WEF).
In total talent ability of 109 countries was measured with the theme Talent Attraction and International Mobility.
Following are the top five countries :
- Switzerland,
- Singapore,
- Luxembourg,
- USA and
- Denmark.
In we talk about India then India slipped by 11 places as compared to last year data and stood at 89th position.
Who won Lady Wigram Trophy motor race - Indian driver Jehan Daruvala
Among Sports Current Affairs, Sahara Force India Academy racer Jehan Daruvala won Lady Wigram Trophy. Lady Wigram Trophy is among most prestigious which is a New Zealand motorsport race trophy.
Which satellite was successfully launched by PSLV-C31 - IRNSS-1E satellite
Among Important National Current Affairs, On 20th January 2016, ISRO successfully launched the Indian Regional Navigational Satellite System (IRNSS) 1-E satellite. The satellite will provide navigation, tracking and mapping services to the Indian sub continent.
This was fifth satellite of this mission which was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SHAR), Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh on-board the PSLV-C31.
IRNSS-1E also carries Corner Cube Retro Reflectors for laser ranging. As you know this was fifth satellite of this mission, previous four were IRNSS-1A, 1B and 1C and 1D. There will be total seven satellites, three will be geostationary and four will be non-geostationary. Remaining two satellites IRNSS-1F and IRNSS-1G will be launched soon in coming months.

On 19th January 2016, Senior journalist and scholar Aroon Tikekar passed away at the age of 92. He had served as President of the Asiatic Society of Mumbai and has written more than 20 books.
35 percent reservation for women in government jobs was approved by - Bihar Cabinet
On 19th January 2016, 35 percent reservation for women in all government jobs was formally approved by Bihar Cabinet. This decision was taken in a meeting chaired by CM Nitish Kumar.
The 35 percent reservation for women will be applicable to in all government jobs including reserved and unreserved category.
Maharashtra Government and Tata Trust signed MoU for skill training of youth
On 19th January 2016, Maharashtra Government and Tata Trust inked an MoU for a skill training programme for the youth of state. This has been done under Kushal Maharashtra, Rojgaryukt Maharashtra initiative of Maharastra Govt.
Under this programme skill development and vocational training centres will be set up in 10 districts in Maharashtra and there will be virtual classrooms in more than 100 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and trust will also help in improving infrastructure of these institutes.
