    Retirement age of doctors of Central Health Services was raised to - 65 Years

    From 31st May 2016, Proposal of Extending age of superannuation of all doctors of Central Health Services was approved by Union govt.
    Ministry of Health and Family Welfare made this proposal with an aim to give a boost to healthcare sector of India by providing more health care pool of doctors.

    Before it retirement age was 62 years.

    Name of Senior IAS officer who was appointed as Finance Secretary - Ashok Lavasa

    Among Important Appointments, On 31st May 2016, 1980 batch Senior IAS officer of Haryana cadre, Mr. Ashok Lavasa was appointed as Finance Secretary as this post was vacant since retirement of Ratan Watar in April 2016.
    Mr. Ashok Lavasa was serving as Civil Aviation Secretary and Environment Secretary before this appointment.

    India inked an agreement with World Bank to - Improve efficiency and attractiveness of City Bus Services

    Among Important agreements, On 31st May 2016, Government of India and the World Bank inked an agreement under the World Bank-Global Environment Facility (GEF) Programme with an aim to have Efficient and Sustainable City Bus Services.
    It will be implemented in selected Indian cities. For this India will get 9.2 million US dollar grant from World Bank.
    Chandigarh, Jaipur, Bhopal and Mira Bhayandar will be demonstration cities for this project.

    India launched Chamber of Commerce and Industry with which country - Morocco

    On 31st May 2016, India-Morocco Chamber of Commerce and Industry was launched in Rabat, Morocco by India and Moroco.
    At the time of launch Vice President of India Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister of Morocco Abdelilah Benkirane were present.
    Apart from this five MoUs were inked in diverse fields to enhance cooperation.

    In which military ammunition depot there was a major fire outbreak - Central Ammunition Depot, Pulgaon

    In a sad incident on 31st May 2016, A massive fire broke out in Pulgaon Central Ammunition Depot which is in Maharashtra state.
    Which lead to more than 15 deaths and many injuries.

    This is a big ammunition depot which is spread over 7000 acres and it was in news recently when it got award for using solar energy for disposing expired ammunition.

    Name of former Delhi Police Commissioner who is appointed as UPSC member - BS Bassi

    Among Important Appointments, On 31st May 2016, President Pranab Mukherjee appointed Bhim Sain Bassi as a member of UPSC ( Union Public Service Commission ), after this appointment he will be holding this post till Feb 2021.
    BS Bassi is former Commissioner of Delhi Police who retired recently. He is IPS officer of Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre of 1977 batch.

    Which tax related scheme came into force - Direct Tax Dispute Resolution Scheme 2016

    From 1st June 2016, Direct Tax Dispute Resolution Scheme 2016 came into effect which was incorporated as Chapter X of the Finance Act, 2016.
    The declarations under this Scheme may be made on or before the 31 December 2016 in respect of tax arrears & specified tax.

    Name of world's longest and deepest rail tunnel which was inaugurated in Switzerland - Gotthard Base Tunnel

    On 1st June 2016, Gotthard Base Tunnel was inaugurated in Switzerland. It was in news as it is world's longest and deepest railway tunnel. Apart from this it is also first flat low-level route through the Alps.
    It is situated 2.3km deep under the Alps and has route length of 57.09 km. It has been constructed as a part of the AlpTransit project ( New Railway Link through the Alps ).

    In total 12.2 billion Swiss francs spent for it and it tool 17 years to construct it.

    Name of noted bollywood comedian who passed away - Razak Khan

    Noted Bollywood comedian Razak Khan passed away on 1st June 2016 after a heart attack. He was very popular among his fans for his comedy timing and acting skills.
    His first movie in bollywood was Roop ki Rani Choron Ka Raja.
