Name of Indigenously built LCA inducted in IAF - Tejas
Among Important Current Affairs, On 1st July 2016, Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas was inducted into Indian Air Force at a ceremony held at Aircraft System Testing Establishment in Bengaluru. It was the first squadron of Tejas to be inducted and has been named as Flying Daggers 45.
It was handed over to IAF by HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited).
Do You Know :- Tejas is a Supersonic multirole light fighter aircraft which has fourth generation technologies.
- Tejas will be replacing MiG's.
- Important to mention here that Tejas is designed and manufactured in India but its radar and engine are imported.
- Tejas has speed of 2,205 km/h
Second Shijian-16 series satellite launched by - China
On 29th June 2016, Second Shijian-16 series satellite was launched by China with the help of March-4B rocket. It was launched from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center of China.
This satellite was launched for space environment measurements, radiation and its effect as well as technology testing. Earlier first satellite was launched in October 2013.Name of Indigenous Heavyweight Torpedo inducted by Indian Navy - Varunastra
Among Important National Current Affairs, On 29th June 2016, Heavyweight torpedo Varunastra was inducted in Indian Navy. It is an indigenously developed torpedo. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar handed it over to Indian Navy.
This was a major feat as only eight countries have capability to design and develop torpedoes including India.
Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL), a premier laboratory of DRDO has developed it.
Total weight of this torpedo is 1.25 tonne and it can carry 250kg of explosives with speed of 40 nautical miles per hour.Who sworned in as new president of Philippines - Rodrigo Duterte
