Richard Rahul Verma nominated by US President Barack Obama as new US envoy to India
On 18th September 2014, President of US Barack Obama nominated Indian-American Richard Rahul Verma as the next US Ambassador to India. With this decision Richard Rahul Verma became first Indian-American to serve at this top US diplomatic position in India.
Richard Rahul Verma parents hails from Punjab state of India, who moved to USA in 1960.

Vintage Dakota aircraft was given as a gift to Bangladesh Air Force by Indian Air Force
On 18th September 2014, Vintage Dakota aircraft was gifted to Bangladesh Air Force by Indian Air Force. Dakota aircraft was with the Indian Airforce at its museum.
It was gifted after a formal request from Bangladesh Air Force.
This vintage aircraft was received by Bangladesh Air Force chief Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari at Palam.
The Dakota aircraft is a transport aircraft which played a crucial role in liberation of Bangladesh.

Dakota was the first transport aircraft to be landed at the heights of 11500 feet in Leh. Legendary pilot Wing Commander Mehar Singh was the person to get it landed there.
Finally Boxer Manoj Kumar to be honoured with Arjuna Award
On 17th September 2014, Union Sports Ministry agreed that boxer Manoj Kumar will be bestowed with the Arjuna Award. Selection Committee prepared Arjuna Awards list which has not included name of boxer Manoj Kumar.
So Manoj Kumar was made to challenge against the list in Delhi High Court, where Ministry admitted mistakenly skipped the name of Manoj Kumar due to some reasons.
Well, It was really sad that a player who was fighting for the country has to fight for his right, but story has a good end as he will finally get his right.
At the 2010 Commonwealth Games Manoj Kumar won gold medal in light welterweight division, also in 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth he fought hard to finish in quarterfinals.
16 MoU's were signed during Chinese President visit to India
As we are aware that President of China Xi Jingping was on a three day visit to India from 17th September to 19th September 2014. During this visit 16 MoU's were signed to strengthen the strategic and bilateral relations.
Out of these sixteen MoU's, three were signed in Gujrat on 17th Sep and other thirteen were signed in New Delhi.

India got its first transgender television news anchor as Padmini Prakash.
Padmini Prakash is 31 years old and works at Lotus News in Tamil Nadu.
Pakistan's Liberal religious scholar Dr. Shakeel Auj shot dead in Karachi
On 18th September 2014, a liberal religious scholar and professor Dr. Shakeel Auj was shot dead in Karachi, Pakistan. He was dean of Islamic Studies at Karachi University. Unknown gunmen on motorbike shot him down.
Dr. Shakeel Auj had authored about 15 books about Islam and due to his contribution he was awarded a Presidential medal of distinction by the Pakistan government this year in August.
