3 proposals under Nirbhaya Fund and 1023 Fast Track Courts to be set up approved by - Government

The Empowered Committee of Officers, under the Chairmanship of Secretary, Women and Child Development Ministry approved 3 proposals under the Nirbhaya Fund as well as forming 1023 Fast Track Special Courts.
Setting up of 1023 Fast Track Special Courts

• The Committee sanctioned the application of the Department of Justice under Ministry of Law and Justice to form 1023 Fast Track Special Courts to dispose-off incomplete cases of rape and POCSO Act nationwide.
• The project was sanctioned with a total financial expenditure of Rupees 767.25 crores. In the 1st phase, 777 Fast Track Special Courts will be formed in Nine states and in the 2nd phase, 246 Fast Track Special Courts will be formed.
  Procurement of forensic kits for sexual assault cases
• The Committee sanctioned the proposal of Union Ministry of Home Affairs for procurement of forensic kits for sexual stabbing cases to quick start use of such kits in States.
• These kits will be utilised via Training of Trainers, capacity training for forensics in sexual stabbing cases and establishment of State Forensic Science Laboratory.
• The application was sanctioned with a sum financial outlay of Rupees 107.19 crore.
  Setting up video surveillance system at 50 Railway Stations
• The Committee sanctioned the proposal from Konkan Railway Corporation Limited for initiating video surveillance system at 50 Railway Stations with a sum Project cost of Rupees 17.64 crore.
• The funding will be used for surveillance hardware and accessories, local connectivity equipment and power supply equipment.
