Ministry of Railways and ISRO signed MoU for - Remote Sensing and GIS Technologies

Among the important National Current Affairs, On 17th March 2016, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding Effective Use of Space Technology in Remote Sensing and Graphic Information System (GIS) was signed between the Ministry of Railways and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

On behalf of Railways, Shobhan Chaudhuri, Railway Board Executive Director (Telecom Development), signed the MoU whereas and Dr. P.G. Diwakar, Deputy Director, on behalf of ISRO.

The motive is to develop applications in the field of remote sensing and GIS for remote sensing at unmanned railway crossing including, all geospatial solutions and customized software solutions for providing reliable, efficient and optimal solutions to Railways in its various areas of operation thereby benefiting the rail user.

TCS named official technology partner for - Virgin Money London Marathon

Among the important Business Current Affairs, On 17th March 2016, a three year partnership with the Virgin Money London Marathon was announced by Tata Consultancy Services.

The motive is to enhance the digital experience delivered to marathon participants.

Under the terms of the partnership, TCS will become the race’s official technology partner for the 2016, 2017 and 2018 events.

About Virgin Money London Marathon

• It is a long-distance running event held in London, United Kingdom.
• On 29th March 1981, the event was first run and since then, it has been held in the spring of every year.
• Former Olympic champion and journalist Chris Brasher and athlete John Disley founded the race.
