Single tribunal to arbitrate inter-State water disputes will be set by – The Union Government

Among Important National Current Affairs, the Union Government has finally decided to set up a single permanent Tribunal to adjudicate all inter-State river water disputes. 

However, this single body will subsume all existing tribunals for resolving grievances of inter-State water disputes in a speedy manner. 

Here, it will be headed by a retired Supreme Court judge.

Who became the Miss World 2016 - Stephanie Del Valle

Among Important International Current Affairs, on 18th December 2016 Stephanie Del Valle of Puerto Rico was crowned Miss World 2016, edging out runners-up from the Dominican Republic and Indonesia winning the top prize in the 66th edition of the pageant held this year i.e. 2016 in the United States.

However, at the age of only 19 years Del Valle has achieved this crown.

She is a brown-eyed brunette student who speaks Spanish, English and French too, and hopes to get into the entertainment industry.

Disney starts off 'Hour of Code' for Indian school kids featuring - Moana

Among Important National Current Affairs, Disney has launched 'Hour of Code' campaign in India for teaching computer programming to school children through the online tutorial featuring characters from Disney movie 'Moana'.

However, in a bid to teach computer programming to school children of India, Disney has recently launched the 'Hour of Code' campaign.

Please Note: This computer programming would be taught through online tutorials, in which they will feature the characters from Disney movie Moana.

Union Government forms high-level task force on - Indus Water Treaty

Among Important National Current Affairs, the Union government with Pakistan has formed a high-level inter-ministerial task force to look into all the strategic aspects of Indus Water Treaty (IWT). 

However, mandate of Task force is to take all important strategic and policy decisions. 

Although, it will be an all-powerful body which will take decisions regarding the treaty.

Lanura is first village to go cashless in - J&K

Among Important National Current Affairs, Lanura which is in Budgam district has become the first village in Jammu and Kashmir to go ‘cashless’.

However, at least one member of each household in the village about 30 km from the summer capital has been trained in using the Electronic Payment System (EPS).

Although so far, about 150 persons have been trained. 

Also the government has been pushing for digital transactions since the demonetisation move.
