Name of the first Indian shuttler to win BWF Korean Open Super Series - PV Sindhu

Among Important Sports Current Affairs, On 17th September 2017, Indian shuttler PV Sindhu defeated Nozomi Okuhara of Japan to win BWF Korean Open Super Series.  Full Name of PV Sindhu is - PPusarla Venkata Sindhu and she is currently having world 4 ranking in BWF World Ranking.

Korea Open Super Series is an annual badminton event and has a prize money of 600000 dollars. This year Men's single title went to Anthony Sinisuka Ginting of Indonesia.

PV Sindhu became first Indian woman to win an Olympic silver medal in 2016 Summer Olympics. She was also awarded with Padma Shri in 2015.

Marshal of the Indian Air Force Arjan Singh passed away, he was hero of - 1965 Indo-Pak War

On 16th September 2017, Marshal of the Indian Air Force Arjan Singh passed away. He was 98 years old.
He was serving Royal Indian Air Force from the age of 19. He also lead combat against the Japanese in 1944. He served as Chief of the Air Staff from 1964 to 1969.
He is the only Air force cheif who has headed Airforce for five years, generally it is upto three years.
He took retirement in 1970 at the age of 50. Then he served as Indian Ambassador to Switzerland and Vatican.
He also served as High Commissioner to Kenya from 1974 to 1977. From 1989 to 1990 he served as Lieutenant Governor of Delhi.

Which animal was moved out of list from endangered species by IUCN - Snow Leopards

In September 2017, Snow leopards were moved out from the list of endangered species by IUCN. It was done for the first time in 45 years. Now Snow leopards will be in the list of Vulnerable species as there is still danger for it because of prey and poaching for its fur and bones.

Who has been appointed as new  Director General of National Investigation Agency - Y C Modi

On 18th September 2017, Senior IPS Officer Mr. Y C Modi was appointed as new Director General of the NIA. Important to mention here that Union Ministry for Home Affairs deals with these appointments.
Mr. Y C Modi will be replacing Sharad Kumar who is going to retire on 30th Ocotber 2017.
Mr. Y C Modi is IPS officer of Haryana Cadre of 1979 batch.

Name of digital payment App launched by Google - Tez

On 18th September 2017, Digital payment service named Tez was launched by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. This service has been created by Google. This google also entered into digital payments segment in India which is growing at very fast pace.
Tez will support many local languages of India viz. Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu etc.
This google payment app is powered by UPI, which is a protocol built by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
