India signs MoC with Japan on Technical Intern Training Programme on - 17th October 2017
India signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Japan on Technical Intern Training Programme (TITP) on 17th October 2017. Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development and
Entrepreneurship and Katsunobu Kato, Japanese Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan at the Ministry of Health Labour and Welfare in Tokyo, Japan signed this MoC during the visit of the Union Minister Skill Development Minister to Tokyo.
Important Highlights- Under the program, India will be sending 3 lakh youth to Japan as technical interns for on-the-job training for a period of 3-5 years.
- The MoC will be boosting bilateral cooperation between India and Japan in the field of skill development.
- India is the third country with which Japan has signed the MoC according to the requirements of the Technical Intern Training Act scheduled to enter into force in November 2017.
- As per the official statistics received from Japan for 2016, 2.3 lakh technical intern trainees approximately from multiple countries are on training in the island nation.
- About 1, 08,709 technical interns entered Japan from various partner countries such as Vietnam, China and Indonesia that account for large numbers in 2016.
- The MoC is an extension of the bilateral joint statement issued during the visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to India in September 2017, in which both Prime Ministers expressed confidence that synergy between advanced technology Japan and rich human resources of India
can transform both countries into new centres of production in the global industrial network.
Technical Intern Training Program
- It is an ideal platform through which complementary strengths of India and Japan could be leveraged for mutual benefit.
- The technical interns trained in Japan under the TITP would be an asset for PM Modi’s Skill India initiative upon their return to India.
- The Skill India campaign was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 15 July 2015 with the aim of training over 40 Cr people in India in different skills by 2022.
Anup Vikal resigned as CFO of Snapdeal on - 17th October 2017
Anup Vikal resigned as Snapdeal’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and General Counsel on 17th October 2017 and is likely to join Essar Oil as its Chief Financial Officer. He resigned two months after e-commerce dealer Sanpdeal cancelled its merger talks with online retailer Flipkart.

- He is a mechanical engineer from National Institute of Technology, Surat and also holds a degree in business administration from South Gujarat University.
- He joined Snapdeal in October 2015 after succeeding Aakash Moondhra.
- He also served as CFO at telecom firm Aircel and before that he served at budget carrier IndiGo’s InterGlobe Enterprises.
- He also worked for a couple of years at telecom and data services multinational Colt Technology.
- He was associated with Bharti Airtel’s finance team for around 7 years before joining Colt.
Who has been appointed as Lokayukta of MP? - Justice Naresh Kumar Gupta
Naresh Kumar Gupta was appointed as the Lokayukta (Ombudsman) of Madhya Pradesh on 17th October 2017. He is a retired judge of Madhya Pradesh High Court. The post of Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta was vacant since June 2016 after the retirement of PP Naolekar, former Justice of Supreme Court.
Since then, UC Maheshwari, former judge of MP High Court, was taking care of the work of Lokayukta.Prior to this Justice Gupta served the Madhya Pradesh state government as a legal advisor. He was appointed as high court judge in 2010 and retired on 30th June 2017. The appointment of Lokayukta is done with the leader of opposition consent and chief justice of high court as per Lokayukta Act.
'women for women': #IamThatWoman campaign launched by - WCD Ministry
The Ministry of Women and Child Development launched an online campaign on ‘women for women’: #IamThatWoman in an attempt to end gender bias in women against women on 17th October 2017.
The WCD Ministry is aiming to highlight through the campaign, the various aspects of women standing by and for other women. The Ministry has also urged people to ignore stereotypes associated with women harming other women.Core Action Plan
In order to make this campaign a nation-wide one, social media users such as those with twitter and facebook accounts have been encouraged to tag and share women stories which showcase helping women with a photograph and post online with the hashtag #IamThatWoman.
