P.S.N. Rao appointed as new DUAC chairman
On 17th October 2014, PSN Rao was appointed as new Chairman of the Delhi Urban Art Commission (DUAC) by Union Urban Development Ministry. PSN Rao succeeded Raj Rewal.
PSN Rao who studied urban management in Canada was earlier heading the Department of Housing, School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi.
Raghuram Rajan given Best Central Bank Governor award by Euromoney magazine
On 10th October 2014, Dr. Raghuram Rajan (Governor of Reserve Bank of India) was conferred with the Best Central Bank Governor award for 2014 by Euromoney magazine.
Euromoney said Raghuram Rajan's tough monetary medicine combatted the storm ravaging the deficit-ridden economy in the recent emerging market crisis.

Nuclear-capable Nirbhay cruise missile successfully test-fired by India
On 17th October 2014, India's indigenously developed nuclear capable sub-sonic cruise missile "Nirbhay" was test fired successfully from a test range at Chandipur, Orissa.
This missile has strike range of more than 1000 km. This missile was developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

Nirbhay missile was tested in March 2013 too but at that its test had to be aborted because it was deviated from its path.
