Which Government notified forests in Aravalli range are not a forest - Haryana Government
On 14 April 2015, a notification that forests in Aravalli ranges are not a forest has been released by Haryana Government. As per the latest order, Mangarbani grove, including the vast region of forests of Aravalli range, will not be considered as a forest.
Mangarbani grove is often considered as the last remaining virgin forest in Delhi NCR and held sacred by local villagers. The notification states that, while carrying out ground truthing exercise in Aravalli region, only recorded forests will be shown/marked as forests.
Therefore after this order, the forest clearance regulations which currently prevent the lands from being diverted for any other activity would not apply on these lands, making it a cake walk for real estate and other industries to chop the forests to use the lands.
Time Magazine released list of - 100 most influential people in the world
Among the important International Current Affairs, On 16th April 2015, a list of 100 most influential people in the world has been released by Time Magazine. American rapper and singer Kanye Omari West topped the list. The oldest person on the list is Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi, who finds himself the steward of the Arab world's youngest democracy at the age of 88 years.
For the continuous third year, Malala Yousafzai of 17 years, Pakistani education activist is the youngest person on the list. The list includes four Indian-origin persons namely Chanda Kochhar, Vikram Patel, co-founder of the NGO Sangath, Managing Director and CEO of ICICI Bank, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.
Chanda Kochhar has been described as a banker with vision and reach for bringing India's largest private bank a global vision and impressive returns and also outstretching to the nation's masses with branches in remote villages where banks simply didn't exist.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is announced as the turnaround artist who is setting Microsoft up for eminence again. Changes that have been considered profane such as -- making Windows free in some cases, releasing open-source software and building on iOS and Android -- are turning Microsoft around.
Vikram Patel is described as a Well-being warrior. He is the co-founder of the Centre for Global Mental Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the NGO Sangath.
When did the World Hemophilia Day observed - 17th April 2015
Among the important International Current Affairs, On 17th April 2015, World Haemophilia Day was observed globally with theme "Building a family of support". The day furnish an occasion to talk to your caregivers, colleagues and extended family and friends to raise awareness and increase support for those living with an inherited bleeding disorder.
Hemophilia day was established in 1989 with the support of the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH). 17th April was chosen to honor the founder of WFH, Frank Schnabel, whose birthday falls on the same date.
Who has joined as first woman bus driver of the DTC - Vankadarath Saritha
Among the important National Current Affairs, On 17th April 2015, Vankadarath Saritha became the first woman bus driver of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). She is a 30-year-old driver from Nalgonda in Andhra Pradesh. From 20th April 2015, she will start working officially in day-time duty at the Sarojini Nagar depot.
Saritha has worked as a bus driver earlier in Hyderabad and has started her career as an autorickshaw driver. Prior to her selection in DTC, she was working as a taxi driver in Delhi.
TERI, FNI, INTASAVE-CARIBSAVE signed MOU to further - Climate & Development Agenda
On 16th April 2015, TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) signed an agreement with two global research institutes, namely INTASAVE-CARIBSAVE Group and Fridtjof Nansen Institute (FNI). The agreement was inked for exchange of knowledge and cooperation on issues related to climate change.
The nine areas of interest recognized by these three organisations were:
- Capacity Building
- National, Regional and Global Policy Advocacy
- Environment and Development
- Low Carbon Strategies
- Institutions and Governance
- Well-being of Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation
- Green Growth and Resource Efficiency
- International Cooperation
- South-South Knowledge Exchange

About the World Heritage Day
On 18th April 1982, the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) in Tunisia celebrated the world Heritage Day for the first time. The day was approved by UNESCO in 1983.
