Union Government approves 500 crore rupee projects for development of tourism in - Jammu and Kashmir
Among Important National Current Affairs, The Union Ministry of Tourism has approved projects of worth 500 crore rupees for integrated development of tourism in Jammu and Kashmir under the scheme Swadesh Darshan.
However, these projects were approved by Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee for the scheme as part of Development Package of Prime Minister Reconstruction Plan.
Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma conferred with - Arjuna Award
Among Important Sports Current Affairs, Cricketer Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma has been conferred with most prestigious award Arjuna Award by the Sports Minister Vijay Goel at a function in New Delhi.
Here, Rohit Sharma was given the award for the year 2015 and Ajinkya Rahane for the year 2016.
However, earlier these two cricketers could not receive the awards from the President Pranab Mukherjee as they were participating in international tournaments.
Which two countries sign MoU to support fishermen in Hambantota district - India, Sri Lanka
Among Important International Current Affairs, India and Sri Lanka have finally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support livelihood of the fishing and farming project to communities in Sri Lanka’s southern Hambantota district.
However, under this project, India will provide fishing and farming communities equipment worth USD two million.
2016 Marconi Society Paul Baran Young Scholar Award won by - Dinesh Bharadia
Among Important National Current Affairs, Indian-born researcher Dinesh Bharadia at the age of 28 has won the prestigious award 2016 Marconi Society Paul Baran Young Scholar Award for his contribution to radio waves.
He has been honored with this award for his contribution to send and receive radio (wireless) signals, including mobile telephony and data on the same channel (wave).
However, his duplex radio technology has disproved a long-held assumption that it is not possible for a radio to transmit and receive on the same frequency band because of the interference.
China successfully launches - Tiangong-2 space lab
Among Important International Current Affairs, Tiangong-2 space lab has been successfully launched by China, with an aim to develop expertise for a future space station and conduct science experiments.
However, the space lab was launched on board of Long March-2F T2 rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwestern China’s Gobi desert.
Track Asia Cup 2016 concluded; where Indian finished – Second
Among Important Sports Current Affairs, on 16th September 2016 the 2016 Track Asia Cup concluded at the Cycling Velodrome in IG Stadium in New Delhi.
However, Hong Kong topped the chart with 18 medals which comprise 11 Gold, four Silvers and three bronze.
Whereas, on the other hand, India the hosts of the tournament ended their campaign at second position with 16 medals, including five gold, four Silver and seven bronze.
Who has been appointed as UNODC Goodwill Ambassador - Nadia Murad Basee Taha
Among Important International Current Affairs, on 16th September 2016 Nadia Murad Basee Taha, who survived trafficking at the hands of Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), was appointed the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Goodwill Ambassador for the Dignity of Survivors of Human Trafficking.
Here, the appointment marks the first time a survivor of atrocities is bestowed with this distinction.
However, the induction ceremony took place in the United Nations Trusteeship Council Chamber in the New York United Nations Headquarters.
