Longest ever manned mission to space is successfully launched by - China
Among Important International Current Affairs, China has finally successfully launched its longest-ever manned mission by taking two astronauts Jing Haipeng (50) and Chen Dong (37) into the orbit.
However, they were launched on board of Shenzhou-11 (heavenly vessel) spacecraft from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre, which is near the Gobi Desert in northwest China.
Also, the spacecraft was put into orbit by a Long March-2F carrier rocket.
Which summit concluded with adoption of Goa Declaration – BRICS
Among Important National Current Affairs, on 15th and 16th October 2016 the eighth BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) summit was held in Benaulim city of Goa, India.
However, iIt was also held under the theme Building Responsive, Inclusive and Collective Solutions.
Here, the summit was also attended by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Brazilian President Michel Temer, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping and South African President Jacob Zuma.
On 16th October 2016 which day is celebrated across the world - World Food Day
Among Important International Current Affairs, on 16th October 2016 World Food Day was observed across the world. The main theme of this day is ‘Climate is changing. Food and agriculture must too’.
However, growing food in a sustainable way means adopting practices that produce more with less in the same area of land. Here, it also means reducing food losses before the retail stage through a number of initiatives including better harvesting, storage, packing, transport, and infrastructure and market mechanisms.
Historic Global Greenhouse gas emission Agreement signed in – Kigali
Among Important National Current Affairs, a historic global climate deal was reached in Kigali, Rwanda at the Twenty-Eighth Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer (MOP28).
However, the so called Kigali Amendment which amends the 1987 Montreal Protocol aims to phase out Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), a family of potent greenhouse gases by the late 2040s. Under Kigali Amendment, in all 197 countries, including India have agreed to a timeline to reduce the use of HFCs by roughly 85% of their baselines by 2045.
