Doctors from which country perform brain implant for the first time in history – Netherlands
Among Important International Current Affairs, Doctors from Netherlands have performed the first-ever brain implant on a 58-year-old woman paralysed by Lou Gehrig’s disease (also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis-ALS).
However, with this she became the first patient to use a brain-computer interface.
Also, the implant has enabled paralysed women to communicate in day-to-day life via a speech computer.
CRPF for first time deploys women commandos for - Anti-Maoists Operations
Among Important National Current Affairs, in a first, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) deployed a team of 135 women commandos in Anti-Naxal operations in Jharkhand.
However, the 135 women commandos belong to the 232 battalion’s Delta company.
Presently, they are undertaking operations under the guidance of the CRPF’s 133 battalion near Khunti on the outskirts of Ranchi.
Which country withdraws from International Criminal Court – Russia
Among Important International Current Affairs, officially Russia has withdrawn from International Criminal Court (ICC) after President Vladimir Putin signed an executive order in this regard.
However, the executive order has mentioned that Russia is pulling out of the 2002 Rome Statute, which establishes the ICC’s status and powers.
Also, Russia had never ratified the statue meaning it was never member subject to its jurisdiction.
Hunar Haat organised at 2016 India International Trade Fair
Among Important National Current Affairs, on 15th November 2016 the Union Government has inaugurated Hunar Haat (Skill Haat) exhibition at India International Trade Fair (2016) at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
The main aim of this exhibition is to supporting and promoting artisans from minority communities and providing them domestic as well as international market to display and sell their products.
"Post-truth" named Word of the Year for 2016 by - Oxford Dictionaries
Among Important National Current Affairs, on 16th November 2016 the word Post Truth was named as word of the year 2016 by Oxford Dictionaries.
However, the word was selected after research conducted by Oxford Dictionaries revealed a fact that the use of word post-truth saw an increase of about 2000 percent over its usage in 2015.
Also, the Word of the Year of Oxford Dictionary is an expression or word that is chosen to reflect the passing year in language. These words are chosen by the Oxford after reviewing and debating on the merits of the words, ethos, mood or preoccupations of that particular year.
