Artificial heart with rocket technology developed by - China
Scientists from China have established non-natural heart by using rocket technology and it is presently
under testing and experiments on animals. The heart was established jointly by China Academy of
Launch Vehicle Technology and Teda International Cardiovascular Hospital in Tianjin, North China.
Key Points- The non-natural heart practices magnetic and fluid levitation from rocket arrangement. This technique can decrease friction in device to upsurge working efficiency and increase life span of power generator.
- This knowledge utilised can lessen injury to the blood and enable blood-pump to work
lengthier.
Earlier Experiments - Earlier, China’s Fuwai Cardiovascular Hospital had also made similar non-natural hearts by using
magnetic-levitation technology and already had implanted them in three patients from time period of June-October 2017. - These man-made hearts were typically tested on patients while they were waiting for heart-transplant or a forever heart replacement.
- In 2013, experts planted artificial heart in sheep, which lived for 120 days in good health conditions. Then hearts were planted in 6 extra sheep and all lived over 100 days, which demonstrated that heart is qualified for batch manufacturing.
Innovative analytical approach to enhance productivity introduced by - Railway
Indian Railways has presented an innovative-analytical-approach to improve the placement of electric and diesel-engines operating passenger rails. A mathematical formula-based software will be utilised to upsurge the productivity of locomotives by shaping the number of engines needed for each train.
Locomotives- Indian Railways has a fleet of about 3300 electric and diesel engine running passenger trains across the nation.
- Engines are organized to run passenger trains through cyclic schedules called locomotive links.
- Until now, locomotive links are being physically organized by the respective 16 zones to run the trains assigned to the zones.
Important facts - Ministry of Railways has grown and implemented the software-based conclusion support system, with the help of specialists, to improve the deployment of engines to operate passenger trains at an all India level.
- The decision support system uses a mathematical model to work out the lowest number of engines needed to run all the passenger trains according to the timetable.
- A pilot optimization workout has been conducted by Transformation Cell of Railway Board, with an active participation of all the 16 zonal railways.
- This has brought in reorganizing of engine links, which will save 30 diesel engines and 42 electric engines being presently operate in passenger service areas.
- The revised links are under execution. These 72 engines free from passenger processes will be used to track additional cargo trains and produce added incomes.
