Pradhan Mantri's which yojana comes into effect - Garib Kalyan Yojana
Among Important National Current Affairs, from 17th December 2016 the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana i.e. PMGKY notified along with other provisions of Taxation Laws (Second Amendment) Act, 2016 came into effect.
However, it will remain open until 31st March 2016. PMGKY is known to be Union Government’s second income disclosure scheme (IDS), which allow tax evaders to come clean with unaccounted wealth.
Here, it provides for 50 per cent tax and surcharge on declarations of unaccounted cash deposited in banks.
Govt appointed whom as IICA Director General - Sunil Arora
Among Important National Current Affairs, Former Information & Broadcasting Secretary Sunil Arora has been appointed as the Director General and CEO of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), a think tank that comes under the Corporate Affairs Ministry.
However, IICA focuses on matters impacting functioning of corporates and works towards capacity building with various stakeholders including regulators and professionals, among other activities.
Indian Navy’s eight landing craft utility L-58 launched by – GRSE
Among Important National Current Affairs, Indian Navy’s eight landing craft utility (LCU) L-58 was launched by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd (GRSE) in Kolkata, West Bengal.
However, it is the last vessel in a series of eight ships of LCU MK-IV project designed and built by GRSE for the Indian Navy. Here, it was launched by Neelam Pratap Singh Rudy, wife of Union minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy.
Who has been named in FP’s Global Thinkers 2016 list - Sushma Swaraj
Among Important National Current Affairs, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who ushered in a new style of diplomacy through dynamic engagement on Twitter, was named in the Global Thinkers List of 2016 compiled by Foreign Policy magazine.
However, Swaraj who is currently recuperating after a kidney transplant, was included in the ‘Decision-makers’ category alongside former US secretary of state Hillary Clinton, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, UN Secretary General Bank ki-Moon and Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau.
Sushma Swaraj was cited in the list ‘for fashioning a novel brand of Twitter diplomacy.’ The minister, who has 6.8 million followers on Twitter, has resolved issues ranging from passport problems to rescuing overseas Indians trapped in conflict-prone conditions. Her popular perception was so positive that many came ahead to donate their kidneys for her transplant surgery.
Rajasthan Government launches which scheme - Annapurna Rasoi Scheme
Among Important National Current Affairs, Rajasthan Government has finally launched Annapurna Rasoi Scheme to provide quality meal at cheap price to poor and needy on lines with Tamil Nadu Government’s Amma canteens.
However, it was launched by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje at Jaipur Municipal Corporation campus.
Although the tagline for the scheme is: “Sabke liye bhojan, sabke liye sammaan (Food for all, respect for all)”.
