Who has won the Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold title of Badminton - Kidambi Srikanth
Among the important Sports Current Affairs, On 15th March 2015, the 22-year-old Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth won the Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold title of Badminton at Basel in Switzerland. Srikanth defeated World Number 6 Viktor Alexson of Denmark 21-14 , 12-21, 21-15 to win the men’s singles title of the championship.
With this, he became the first Indian men to win the 120000 US dollars Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold title. Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth is from Andhra Pradesh and currently the highest ranked Indian men player on the World Badminton Federation (WBF) rankings.
Which shopping search engine has been acquired by Facebook - TheFind
On 14th March 2015, the shopping search engine TheFind has been acquired by Social networking giant Facebook. With the procurement, Facebook has moved into the e-commerce.
The aim of the deal is to improve ads experience of Facebook. The Find technology would be united into Facebook to make the ads more relevant and better for consumers.
Facebook will try a buy button since July 2014 that lets users purchase goods directly. TheFind was co-founded in 2006 by CTO Shashikant Khandelwal and CEO Siva Kumar, both native Indians. TheFind formerly raised 26 million US dollar in three investment rounds, but had not received an inundation of cash since 2007.
World Consumer Rights Day 2015 is observed on which theme - Helping consumers choose healthy diets
On 15th March 2015, The World Consumer Rights Day (WCRD) was observed on the theme Helping consumers choose healthy diets. The theme was taken up by the Consumers International (CI) because unhealthy diets are linked to four of the ten biggest causes of death viz., high blood glucose, overweight and obesity, high cholesterol worldwide and high blood pressure. According to an approximate by the CI obesity alone is estimated to cost 2 trillion US dollars per year.
World Consumer Rights Day is an opportunity to promote the basic rights of all consumers, for demanding that those rights are respected and protected, and for protesting the market abuses and social injustices which undermine them.
Every year, the CI selects a theme and organizes various consumer awareness activities in close coordination with the governmental and non-governmental organizations.
Consumers International (CI) is the world federation of consumer groups that serves as the only independent and authoritative global voice for consumers.
Which cyclone has hit south Pacific archipelago of Vanuatu - Powerful Cyclone Pam
Among the important International Current Affairs, On 14th March 2015, south Pacific archipelago of Vanuatu was hit by a Powerful cyclone Pam. The cyclone Pam is a category five tropical storm, brought torrential rain and destructive 270 kilometre-per-hour winds along with it.
The cyclone was followed by landslides, flooding, very rough seas and sea surges which caused massive destruction in the small Pacific nation. Cyclone Pam prior to slamming Vanuatu had destroyed some homes and had caused damage to other Pacific islands including Kiribati and the Solomon Islands.
In the history of Vanuatu, Severe Tropical Cyclone Pam is regarded as the worst natural disaster. It is also the third most intense storm in the Southern Hemisphere only after Gafilo in 2004 and Zoe of 2002.
