Morgan Freeman and Mel Brooks among - 2015 National Medal of Arts recipients
Among Important International Current Affairs, on 14th September 2016 the 2015 National Medal of Arts and the National Humanities Medals recipients were unveiled by the White House.
For the National Medal of Arts - Mel Brooks, Morgan Freeman, Audra McDonald, Berry Gordy and Philip Glass are on the list, while Terry Gross and Wynton Marsalis are among the Humanities recipients.
However, on 22nd September 2016 President Barack Obama will award the medals in a ceremony in the East Room of the White House.
Subramanian Swamy honoured with which award in US - Tamil Ratna
Among Important National Current Affairs, on 11th September 2016 Subramanian Swamy was honoured with ‘Tamil Ratna’ by America Tamil Sangam.
The America Tamil Sangam is a body of Tamil diaspora based in US.
However, the senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP was presented with this award in New York for his fight against corruption and work for bringing more transparency in the functioning of the government.
Name the India-born innovator who wins 2016 Lemelson-MIT Prize - Ramesh Raskar
Among Important National Current Affairs, India-born innovator and scientist Ramesh Raskar has won the prestigious 2016 Lemelson-MIT Prize.
Ramesh Raskar is an associate professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT’s) Media Lab. He is also known for his co-invention of an ultra-fast imaging camera, which can help us to see around corners, low-cost eye-care solutions.
However, it also enables users to read the first few pages of a book without opening the cover.
India Blue wins - Duleep Trophy Tournament
Among Important Sports Current Affairs, Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir-led India Blue has won the inaugural day/night 2016-17 Duleep Trophy Cricket tournament, which played with a pink ball.
This 2016–17 was 55th season of Duleep Trophy. In the final match, which held in Greater Noida, India Blue defeated India Red, captained by Yuvraj Singh, by a massive 355 runs.
However, Ravinder Jadeja, who bagged 5 wickets in the second innings, finished the game with a 10-wicket haul. Player of the match was Cheteshwar Pujara.
