Hindi Divas observed across India on 14th September
On 14th September Hindi Divas was observed across India. 14th September of every year is observed as Hindi Diwas to promote Hindi across the country and to show its importance.
To mark this occasion the President of India Pranab Mukherjee presented Rajbhasa awards at a function at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Hindi Divas is observed in India on 14th September because on 14 September 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted Hindi written in Devanagari script as the Official Language of the Country.
Noted Educationist Kireet Joshi passed away
On 14th September 2014, Noted Educationist and Philosopher Kireet Joshi passed away. He was 83 years old.
India's former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi appointed him as educational adviser to the Government in year 1976, then after he also served as special secretary to the government of India from 1983 to 1988. He also served as Educational Adviser to the Gujarat from 2008 to 2010.
He was first registrar of Sri Aurobindo International Centre of Education.
Economy to grow at 5.6 percent in 2014-15: FICCI's Economic Outlook Survey
Among the Economic Current Affairs, On 13th September 2014, FICCI survey for Economic Outlook Survey was released, in which it is estimated that India's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will expand by 5.6 percent during the financial year of 2014-15.
FIBA Basketball World Cup title 2014 clinched by USA
On 14th September 2014, FIBA Basketball World Cup 2014 title was bagged by USA. To get this title USA defeated Serbia. FIBA Basketball World Cup 2014 was held in Madrid, Spain.
This was a consecutive win of USA, thus USA became third country to do so. Before USA, Yugoslavia and Brazil have won consecutive titles.
