Self-powered UV photodetector for self-charging energy storage devices developed by - IISc researchers
Among Important National Current Affairs, the researchers from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru have developed a cost-effective, high-performance, self-powered UV photodetector.
However, the self-powered UV photodetector can use the harvested optical energy for direct self-charging of energy storage devices such as supercapacitor.
Here, it can also be used for operating electronic devices in the absence of external power source.
Which two countries agreed to elevate their ties to strategic partnership - Bangladesh, China
Among Important International Current Affairs, the two countries Bangladesh and China have agreed to elevate their bilateral relations to “strategic partnership”.
However, it was announced during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit Bangladesh.
Please Note: This is the first official state visit by Chinese head of state to Bangladesh in three decades since President Li Xiannian’s visit in March 1986.

Kirtiraj Kundlik Gaikwad awarded with IAFP Young scientist scholarship award 2016
Among Important National Current Affairs, on 12th October 2016 Kirtiraj Kundlik Gaikwad, who is an Indian scientist, has been awarded with the prestigious IAFP Young scientist scholarship award 2016 for his research work on development of novel oxygen absorbing package in the field of active packaging for oxygen sensitive food products.
However, the award which is of worth 2000 US dollars and an award plaque was presented to him in the annual meeting of International Association of Food Protection (IAFP) held in St Louise, USA by The IAFP Foundation, USA.
