President Ram Nath Kovind declared Four Nominations for - Rajya Sabha
On 14th July 2018, President Ram Nath Kovind announced four nominations for Rajya Sabha. As there were four seats vacant after retirement of Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, Actress Rekha, Social activist Anu Agha and Veteran lawyer K Parasaran. These four were retired in April 2018.
New four people who has been nominated by President are :- Ram Shakal - Mr. Ram Shakal is three time MP from Robertsganj constituency of Uttar Pradesh. He is a farmer leader and has worked for farmers, farmers, labourers and migrants.
- Rakesh Sinha - Rakesh Sinha is Ideologue of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and also founder and Honorary Director of the Delhi-based think-tank "India Policy Foundation." He is also a author and columnist. He is professor at Motilal Nehru College of Delhi University.
- Raghunath Mohapatra - Raghunath Mohapatra is an international sculptor. He is very famous for this art of stone carving. He is doing it since 1959 and has trained over 2000 students. He has worked on beautification of the Sri Jagannath Temple in Odisha. Six feet high statue of the Sun God in the Central Hall of Parliament is also his work. His another famous work is Wooden Buddha in Paris Buddha Temple.
- Sonal Mansingh - Sonal Mansingh is exceptional Indian classical dancer. She has been performing Bharatnatyam and Odissi for over six decades. She is very well known choreographer, orator and social activist too. She is founder of Centre for Indian Classical Dances (in 1977).
Longest Total Lunar Eclipse of Century will occur on - 27-28 July
On 27-28 July 2018, total lunar eclipse will occur. It will be longest of this century (2001 AD to 2100 AD).
On 27th July 2018, Sun and Mars will lie opposite to each other and earth will be middle of both. Thus mars will be coming close to earth causing it to appear brighter.
Mars will remain very close to eclipsed Moon and can be spotted with naked eye too. Eclipse will be visible from all parts of India.
