Vinod Khanna posthumously honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2017 on - 13th April 2018
Late famous actor and politician Vinod Khanna was posthumously awarded with prestigious Dadasaheb
Phalke Award 2017. He is the 49th person who received the award, measured as the highest award in
Indian cinema presented by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
More about Vinod Khanna- Vinod Khanna was born on 6th October 1946, and he featured in about 146 films in his film-career
crossing more then 4 decades. He made his debut in 1968 with movie Mann Ka Meet. - Some of his famous movies are Mere Apne, Insaaf and Amar, Akbar, Anthony. Last time he was seen in Shah Rukh Khan’s movie Dilwale in 2015.
- Vinod Khanna has also secured many awards, including the Filmfare award for best supporting actor and the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award.
- In 1982 Vinod Khanna decided to leave movies industry at peak time of his career to trail his spiritual guru Osho Rajneesh.
- He worked as Union minister for culture and tourism in 2002 under BJP. Later, he also became minister of state in Ministry of External Affairs. At the time of his death in 2017, he was sitting BJP member of Lok Sabha from the Gurdaspur constituency in Punjab.
Dadasaheb Phalke Award - The award is presented by Union Government for his fantastic contribution to growth and development of Indian Cinema. It was recognized in 1969 to honour the birth anniversary year of Dadasaheb Phalke, who is the father of Indian cinema.
