Who has appointed four Governors and transferred two - President of India
Among the important National Current Affairs, On 12th May 2015, President of India Pranab Mukherjii appointed four Governors and transferred two. In accordance with Article 155 of the Constitution of India these appointments and transfers were done.
Appointed Governors
- V Shanmuganathan was announced as the Governor of Meghalaya.
- Draupadi Murmu was announced as the Governor of Jharkhand.
- Tathagata Roy was announced as Governor of Tripura.
- JP Rakkhowa was announced as Governor of Arunachal Pradesh.
Transferred Governors
- Syed Ahmed, Governor of Jharkhand was transferred to Manipur. His occupancy will end in September 2016.
- Lt General (retd.) Nirbhay Sharma, Governor of Arunachal Pradesh was transferred and appointed as Governor of Mizoram for his remaining term that will end in 2018.
Who is named as the Head Coach of U-19 football team of India - Lee Alan Johnson
Among the important appointments, On 12th May 2015, Lee Alan Johnson was named as the Head Coach of Indian Under-19 football team by All India Football Federation (AIFF).
Apart from this, he will also serve as the Head Scout for the national side and will also perform the role of Assistant Coach of the senior team.
Being the coach at Chelsea Football Club and Crystal Palace Football Club, Johnson was also an FA Learning Tutor for the Football Association.
Name the first Asian woman elected as Mayor in UK - Harbhajan Kaur Dheer
Among the important International Current Affairs, On 12th May 2015, Harbhajan Kaur Dheer became the first Asian woman to be elected as mayor in the United Kingdom (UK).
She took the position as the Mayor of Ealing Council in London in which she was the Deputy Mayor before assuming the present position.
She is a rights activist advocating for rights of children and elderly and was a mental health professional.
