    Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana has been approved by - Union Cabinet 

    Among Important National Current Affairs, on 13th July 2016 the Union Cabinet approved the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) with an outlay of about 12000 crore rupees to impart skilling to one crore people over the next four years (2016-2020).

    PMKVY will be seen giving fresh training to 60 lakh youths and certify skills of 40 lakh persons acquired non-formally under the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Depending on functional and operational requirements, the target allocation between fresh trainings and RPL will be flexible and interchangeable.

    Know About Pradhan Mantri Vikas Yojana – 

    • This scheme is mainly for skill training of youth to be implemented by the new Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship through the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The scheme is aimed to cover 24 lakh persons.

    • Skill training would be done based on the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) and industry led standards. 

    Which operation has been launched to evacuate Indian citizens from South Sudan - Sankat Mochan

    On 13th July 2016, Union Government began the operation named 'Sankat Mochan' to evacuate its citizens stranded in South Sudan's capital Juba. Two C-17 military transport aircrafts have been pressed in service to make the evacuation.

    The operation will be undertaken by Indian Air Force (IAF) and headed by Minister of State for External Affairs General (Retd.) VK Singh. 

    However, The Indian Ambassador in South Sudan Srikumar Menon and his team is organising this operation on the ground. Indian Embassy in Juba in an advisory had communicated that all the stranded Indian citizens should get in touch immediately with the embassy to avail the facility.

    Who has been appointed as CEO of NATGRID - Ashok Patnaik

    On 13th July 2016, Ashok Patnaik has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID) by the Union Government. It is known to be one of the most ambitious intelligence projects that failed to take off during United Progressive Alliance (UPA) rule.

    Currently, Patnaik is serving as Additional Director in the Intelligence Bureau and he will continue to hold this post till his superannuation in 2018.

    Patnaik is a 1983-batch IPS officer of Gujarat cadre.

    Who is appointed as Prime Minister of United Kingdom - Theresa May

    Theresa-May Among Important International Current Affairs, on 13 June 2016 Queen Elizabeth-II has appointed Theresa May as the 76th Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK). 

    Theresa May was appointed as prime minister following her election as the leader of Britain's ruling Conservative Party.

    After this win, she became the second women to assume the office of Prime Minister of the UK. The first women prime minister was Margaret Thatcher who was in the office of PM from 1979 to 1990.

    India-born Kinshuk appointed as Dean of University of - North Texas College of Information

    On 12th July 2016, An Indian-American professor Dr Kinshuk has been appointed as the Dean of University of North Texas College of Information in the United States with effect from 15 August 2016.

    In the field of science and technology, Kinshuk has a diverse set of academic experience.
