Rights of Persons with Disabilities Bill, 2014 passed by - Rajya Sabha
Among Important Current Affairs, On 14th December 2016, Rights of Persons with Disabilities Bill, 2014 was passed in the Rajya Sabha by voice note. After this now this legislation will be there to get passed in Lok Sabha and then by President of India, then it will replace Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995.
This bill will be benefitting more than 2.8 crore of population in India as this bill deals with more rights, social protection, reservations and other benefits to disabled people.
Important to mention here that old bill identifies only seven disabilities while new bill will be identifing 19 conditions.
Who won World Billiards title in Bengaluru - Pankaj Advani
Among Important Sports Current Affairs, On 12th December 2016, Pankaj Advani of India won World Billiards title by defeating Peter Gilchrist of Singapore by 6-3.
In 15 years career of Pankaj Advani he has won 11th world billiards championships.

Which state will be having a border viewing point similar to Wagah border - Gujarat
Chief Minister of Gujarat Vijay Rupani announced on 13th December 2016 that Gujarat will be having Wagah border like border viewing point in Banaskantha district of Gujarat.
This will be done with an aim to promote the tourism in Gujarat.
Name of legendary horse jockey who passed away - Walter Swinburn
Walter Swinburn passed away on 12th December 2016, he was among the most renowned jockeys and was 55 years old. He won Epsom Derby horserace three times.
He used to ride a brilliant British-trained racehorse Shergar. He started riding Shergar when he was 19 years old.
He retired as a jockey in 2000.
Indo-Russian Bilateral Naval Exercise begins, it is named as - Indra Navy - 2016
On 14th December 2016, Joint excercise of Indian Navy and Russian Navy started in the Bay of Bengal named as Indra Navy - 2016. Important to mention here that it is 9th edition of such excercise and it will conclude on 21st December 2016.
First edition of this type of excercise was held in 2003.
This excercise will boost mutual trust and coordination between two navies.
