Who has won UNC’s 2015 Award for Excellence in Teaching - Dr. Sivanadane Mandjiny
On 12th May 2015, the University of North Carolina (UNC) Board of Governors 2015 Award for Excellence in Teaching was won by Indian-American Professor Dr. Sivanadane Mandjiny. The award includes a bronze medallion and a 12500 US dollar cash prize.
Currently, at the University of North Carolina he is serving as a professor of Chemistry. In 1996, he had joined University’s Department of Chemistry and Physics as a teaching associate.
From the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, he has received three Excellence in Teaching Awards. In 2006, Mandjiny won the university's Outstanding Teaching Award.
Who has won 2014 Encore Award for The Lives of Others - Indian author Neel Mukherjee
On 12th May 2015, Encore Award worth 10000 pounds was won by Indian author Neel Mukherjee for his novel The Lives of Others .
This is his second novel. The novel is set in Kolkata of the 1960s when Naxalite violence was at its peak. The novel showcases the story of Supratik Ghosh after he leaves home to join the Communist party of India, Marxist and stimulate the countryman against their landlords.
For the the Costa Novel Award and 2014 Man Booker Prize, the Lives of Others was shortlisted. In 2010, Neel Mukherjee's first novel, A Life Apart, was released.
